Media Release 7 August 2021
Right to Life asks “When is the Prime Minister going to make a formal apology to Pasifika for the continuing violation of the human rights of Pasifika women and their precious unborn?” The human rights violations inflicted on the community with dawn raids pale into insignificance when one considers the human rights violations inflicted by this government and previous governments on Pasifika women and their precious unborn.
The Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, is highly commended for her deeply sincere, unreserved and wholehearted apology on behalf of her government for the humiliation and pain inflicted on the Pasifika community by the racially discriminating government agencies of the 1970s that resulted in dawn raids and deportations.
Right to Life notes the readiness of the Prime Minister to apologise for the dawn raids initiated by the Labour government of Norman Kirk, in the 1970s, before she was born.
We believe that she should be more ready to apologise for the violation of the human rights of Pasifika people inflicted on their community with the anti-life Abortion Legislation Act 2020, which she initiated and promoted through Parliament.
Every year, more than 1,200 abortions are performed on Pasifika women by doctors paid by the government to violently kill defenceless, innocent Pasifika unborn children with poison, suctioning from the womb and painfully dismembering them up to birth.
These children are not overstayers, but are considered by the government as unwanted, the penalty imposed by the government is a violent death, their remains treated as medical waste. In the words of the Prime Minister this is “reproductive health care”.
Right to Life believes that the government’s actions inflict grief and suffering on Pasifika families and communities. Since the Prime Minister took office in 2017 more than 5,000 Pasifika unborn children have been violently killed before they were born.
The Pasifika community should refuse to accept the unreserved apology of the Prime Minister until she also:-
· Apologises for the failure of the government to recognise the humanity of the unborn child from conception.
· Recognises that the unborn child has been endowed at its conception by its Creator with human rights, the foundation right being an inalienable right to Life.
· Repeals in the Crimes Act 1961, section 159 Killing unborn child, which states that the unborn child is not a human being and does not have a right to life until it is born.
· Legislates for the legal recognition of the unborn child as a human being from conception with an inalienable right to life.
