Right to Life Celebrates Passing of Texas Heartbeat Bill

Right to Life congratulates the Texas legislature for passing the pro-women Heartbeat Act. Gov Abbott signed the Act in a historic step in the battle to protect life. He said, “This bill ensures the life of every unborn child with a heartbeat will be saved from the ravages of abortion”.  It is expected that this Act will save the lives of 50,000 unborn children next year in the state of Texas.

 The Act came into force on 1 September, 2021 and prohibits the killing of any unborn child after a heartbeat is first detected in an ultrasound scan, at 6 weeks gestation. The Act provides no exceptions and will protect the lives of all unborn children regardless of the circumstances of conception.

“The Texas Heartbeat Act is the strongest pro-life bill passed by the Legislature since Roe v. Wade and will save thousands of lives,” said Texas Right to Life Senior Legislative Associate Rebecca Parma. “This is a historic day and now is the time to build on our momentum.”

It is expected that it will prohibit an estimated 85% of abortions in Texas. An appeal by abortion providers to the Supreme Court to stop the law being introduced was recently rejected in a 5 to 4 decision by the Court.

This is the most pro-life legislation to be passed by a state to protect the lives of the unborn since the notorious Roe v Wade decision of the Supreme Court in 1973.

Thirteen other States have passed Heartbeat Acts, with the objective of protecting their unborn children, only to have them challenged by Planned Parenthood and stopped by federal courts.

Those who are opposed to the war on women and the unborn are confident that this historic Act could lead to the overturning of Roe v. Wade which allows for the killing of unborn children up to birth in the United States.

Such an overturning will result in recognition that human life begins at conception, that the unborn child is a human being and that it is endowed by its Creator with an inalienable right to life.  It is expected that this could happen in early 2022 when the Supreme Court makes a decision on an appeal against a Mississippi law that prohibits the killing of a child after 15 weeks gestation.

The overturning of Roe v. Wade will impose pressure on the NZ government to overturn the extreme Abortion Legislation Act which permits the killing of unborn children up to birth and to legislate to recognise the status of the unborn child as a human being from conception and endowed by its Creator with an inalienable right to life.

The New Zealand Family Planning Association is at the forefront of the war against women and the unborn. It supports Roe v Wade that allows for the killing of the unborn throughout the whole nine months of pregnancy. It is opposed to recognising the unborn child as a human being with a right to life.

The overturning of Roe v Wade will have international repercussions for unborn children in other countries, the weakest and most defenceless members of the human family. States will be encouraged to recognise that they have a duty to protect the lives of unborn children, that it is a crime to kill an unborn child and that women should be protected from the violence of abortion. Pregnancy is not a disease and abortion is not health care.

Bereavement Leave Act recognises unborn child from conception as a human being.

Right to Life congratulates Parliament for unanimously passing the Holiday’s [Bereavement Leave for Miscarriage] Amendment Bill no 2.

This Act is appropriately named for bereavement is a noun which means “loss by death of a close relative or friend.” A woman will have no closer relative than the unborn child that she carries in her womb.

In passing this bill Parliament has given recognition to the unalterable truth that the unborn child is a human being from conception and is  endowed with a right to life.

This recognition was affirmed by many Members of Parliament who with humanity and compassion spoke eloquently of the “child” in the womb and in the words of Ginny Andersen, sponsor of the bill, “I hope this bill will go some way in recognising the need for time and space to deal with the unimaginable grief that comes with losing a pregnancy.”

Right to Life wishes to speak up on behalf of the more than 12,000 women who have lost their child through abortion each year, whose pain and grief is ignored by this Bereavement Act. This Act recognises the loss of a child through miscarriage and stillbirth but ignores the loss of a child through abortion. Right to Life grieves with these wounded women in the loss of their precious irreplaceable children whose pain is denied.

Right to Life asks our Parliament how can you reconcile your recognition of the humanity of the unborn child with the actions of this Parliament just twelve months ago that passed the Abortion Legislation bill 68 to 51.

In the chilling words of the then Minister of Justice, Andrew Little, who with the Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern were the architects of this legislation said in presenting this bill for its first reading in Parliament, “I accept on legal and moral grounds the established jurisprudence in New Zealand that human rights do not accrue until human life is possible, and that the widely accepted human rights that we all understand apply when they are capable of being exercised, which is to say I accept the “born alive” principle that guides our courts today.” This is a legal fiction that is not supported by reason or science. This legal fiction supports the state funded killing of more than 12,000 innocent and defenceless unborn children every year, a crime against our Creator, the author of life, a violation of human rights, and an unspeakable violence against women, whose cries of pain and suffering are unheard.  

Right to Life requests that the government uphold justice, repeal section 159 of the Crimes Act and amend the Abortion legislation to comply with the Bereavement Leave Act by recognising that the unborn child from conception is a human being endowed by its Creator with an inalienable right to life.

Abortion Safe Zone Parliamentary debate a disgraceful farce

This was a government bill posing as a private members bill. The government claimed that this was a conscience vote. Right to Life believes that government MPs were directed to support government policy by voting for this bill at its first reading. Sixty two government MPs dutifully voted for the bill with three MPs being permitted to vote against it to sustain the charade that this was a conscience vote.

The culture of death demands complete subservience, it does not compromise.

The language used in the debate was designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of concern for women. Right to Life believes that the government wants to control what we think, what we say and where we may assemble, this bill is an important first step in this agenda.

Right to Life believes that the government wants to silence those who seek to challenge the government’s promotion of a culture of death. The government, having rejected the authority of the Creator, has taken to itself the right to decide who shall live and who shall die.

Louisa Wall, the one chosen by the government to sponsor this bill made outrageous claims that abortion patients had been photographed going into abortion clinics, having there number plates taken down and subsequently seeing placards bearing their names. These are very serious accusations, where is your evidence?

Louisa Wall, claims that abortion patients have been accused of being murderer’s by those opposed to the violence against women and the unborn, again where is your evidence?

Louisa claims that these prayer vigils violate the New Zealand Bill of Rights, section 9, “right not to be subject to torture or cruel treatment.”

Louisa Wall, in her closing address concluded by saying,” how proud she was to be part of a legacy of women who work to eliminate violence and the oppression of women.” Louisa, how can you claim to care about women when you oppose the right of women to be born and support female children being killed in the womb? How sad, she genuinely but misguidedly believes that she is helping women. Why does she not recognise that abortion is violence inflicted upon women? Why does she not recognise the violence inflicted on defenceless unborn babies who are poisoned in medical abortions, suctioned or violently and painfully dismembered limb from limb in the womb in surgical abortions sanctioned and funded by her government, Is this not torture or cruel treatment?

This was a phony debate for many MPs  completely disregarded our right to free speech, assembly and communication violated by this bill and relied on misinformation and false accusations to justify their support for this bill that violates our human rights.

This bill is opposed by the Law Commission. The Law Commission, on safe zones advised the Minister, “At this time the Commission does not see a strong case for this.”………”The Commission sought input from health professional bodies, abortion service providers and health practitioners about safe access zones. The majority felt that safe access zones were not needed.”

Right to Life requests Louisa Wall and the government to advise our nation why they seek “safe zones” around the killing centres when the Law Commission, abortion service providers, health practitioners and District Health Boards are not asking for “safe zones”?

Is the government guilty of hate speech?

Right to Life believes that the Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern and her government are guilty of hate speech. Under the guise of promoting women’s rights, the government is guilty of promoting hate speech against vulnerable women and their precious unborn children.

There is no other group of human beings in New Zealand who are more subject to hate speech and violence than our own women when pregnant with a child in the womb. It was our own Prime Minister, who is a loving mother, declared in 2017 that it was not a crime to kill an unborn child and that killing the child was “a reproductive choice for women.” It was the Prime Minister who voted against every amendment to the abortion bill to provide protection for women and her child. She voted against pain relief for the baby being killed, palliative care for a child born alive in an abortion, sex selection abortions and retaining the 20 week limit for killing children with Down syndrome or other disability.  

The Ardern government has actually enshrined hate speech in legislation. The anti–feminist and anti-life Abortion Legislation Act 2020 is the embodiment and epitome of hate speech in that discriminates and incites violence against vulnerable women and their defenceless unborn children.

What could be more hateful than to tell woman with child:-

That your child is not a human being until it is born.

That it does not have a right to life.

That it has no value and has no right to the protection of the State.

That you have a right to kill your child up to birth and that we will pay for it.

It is unbelievable that the government is committed to passing legislation that will restrict freedom of speech by making it a crime to express an opinion on important social issues. Right to Life believes that it is the government’s intention to classify as hate speech, opposition to the killing of the unborn, defence of the right to life, opposition to the killing of the vulnerable with assisted suicide and euthanasia and defence of marriage as being exclusively one man and one woman.

In New Zealand, Labour’s 2020 election manifesto stated that “Labour will extend legal protections for groups that experience hate speech, including for reasons of religion, gender, disability or sexual orientation, by ensuring that we prohibit speech that is likely to incite others to feel hostility or contempt towards these groups under the Human Rights Act 1993.”

There is no other group in New Zealand that is more subject to government orchestrated hate speech and violence than our own unborn children and their mothers. If the government is really serious about hate speech, it will repeal the hateful and destructive  Abortion Legislation Act and replace it with legislation that expresses love for both mother and child by protecting the life of the child.

Government’s Conspiracy of Silence Descends over Killing of Unborn

The Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, the architect of the Abortion Legislation Act 2020, has redefined who is human. She determined that the killing of the unborn was to be a “reproductive health issue.”  It is no longer a crime to kill an unborn child because it is not a human being. It becomes a human being with a right to life when it is born. This is a legal fiction used to justify the war against women and the state funded genocide of our children.

This state-funded genocide, as desired by the Prime Minister, is now presided over by the Director General of Health, Dr Bloomfield. He has appointed the Abortion Services Team to organise the genocide under the guise that the killing is a core or essential health service.

The Abortion Supervisory Committee commendably previously produced a 30 page annual report with 11 pages of important statistics concerning abortions in New Zealand, this has now ceased. It is the government’s intention to ensure that Parliament and the community are deprived of as much information as possible to avoid scrutiny and public debate.

To ensure this objective is achieved, the abortionist is required to provide minimal information on the Notification of Abortion form. The following critical information is not required to be divulged:-

•         Many women seek an abortion because of coercion, threats of violence and abandonment, this will not be divulged.

•         The reason why the life of the unborn child was ended, was it done on the pretext to save the mental health of the mother or to prevent serious harm to save the life of the mother. Was it done for sex selection purposes, socioeconomic reasons, or because the child was diagnosed as having Down syndrome, a minor to moderate disability or for some other disability ?

Right to Life believes the government does not want us to know how successful their search and destroy campaign to eliminate children with Down syndrome may be.

•         When a baby is killed post 20 weeks because the abortionist has deemed it appropriate, no information is required from the abortionist  as to why it was appropriate.

•         Whether or not a woman seeks pre-decision or post-abortion counselling.

•         If the pregnancy is the result of rape or sexual violation.

•         Was the abortion carried out in a hospital or was it a medical abortion that was performed at home without medical supervision.

•         In the rare event that a woman dies in an abortion, her death is not required to be reported on the Abortion Notification Form.

Right to Life believes that this Notification of Abortion form fails to recognise the dignity or health of women and their precious unborn children. There is a conspiracy of silence which further victimises women and treats them with contempt. Pregnancy is not a disease and abortion is not health care. Women with unplanned pregnancies deserve to be treated with respect and compassion. Right to Life has made a substantial submission to the Abortion Services Team on 2nd November requesting that the above questions be included in the Notification of Abortion form. Right to Life is committed to the freedom of information to sustain the ongoing national debate on respect for the sanctity of life and respect for women.

Euthanasia Referendum- temporary victory for Culture of Death

The support of 65.2 per cent who voted yes to the euthanasia referendum marks a sad day of infamy in our nation’s history. New Zealand now has the notoriety of being the first country in the world that has approved with a national referendum to allow the killing of its most vulnerable. New Zealand now becomes not only the most dangerous place in the world to be an unborn child but the most  dangerous place if you are elderly, seriously ill or disabled.

The architect of this legislation David Seymour and the Labour government who wanted an overwhelming “yes” vote  will be delighted their campaign of misinformation has produced the planned result.

This is the day that New Zealand accepted the implementation of the End of Life Choice Act that empowers doctors to administer a lethal injection to their patients or assist in their suicide as some sort of “health care”.

This Act is a threat to the lives of every person in our community. It is not the end of change in these laws,  but merely the first step in implementing the agenda of the international euthanasia movement, who ultimately desire assisted killing for anyone who is tired of life, or who believes that they may be a burden on their family or society so cannot justify their continuing existence.

This is the legislation that provides cover for the perfect crime, the victim is killed and disposed of, there are no witnesses and their death certificate is falsified to conceal the truth that the patient was actually killed by their doctor. No doctor will be tried for manslaughter or homicide, because they will always be acting “in good faith”.

This law may corrupt the medical profession and drive out some members who refuse to participate in mercy killing or assisted suicide. The trust between patients and their doctors will be eroded unless safer alternatives to euthanasia continue to be readily available and adequate funding is provided for palliative care. The safeguards which should protect the vulnerable are not specificed in this law – no independent witnesses are required, and no consultation with family or whanau is required under this law.

The duty of Parliament to protect the lives of every citizen, especially our weakest and most defenceless members has been changed forever. Parliament now has assumed the authority of our Creator. It now arrogantly believes that it has the decision making authority about who may live and who may be killed. It also believes that it has the authority to empower and direct doctors to ignore medical ethics to kill and not to care.

This tyrannical referendum posing as democracy is not the end, but the beginning of our battle against euthanasia. The pro-life movement will not abandon the vulnerable in our community, but re-commits ourselves  to fight unceasingly for the repeal of this obnoxious End of Life Choice Act.

Parliament has shamefully abdicated its responsibility to present a truthful and accurate campaign to educate voters on this critical issue, has ignored the wishes of the majority of the submissions against this dangerous law, and has failed to protect the vulnerable who may be coerced into an early death.
