Government training doctors to kill patients

There is no place in the medical profession in New Zealand for a doctor who is not prepared to implement the government’s new health service, to kill their patient under the guise that it is a health service.

 Right to Life is concerned that the government is coercing doctors to betray their medical ethics and undertake training to equip them to kill their patients with a lethal injection or assist in their suicide.

The Minister of Health, Andrew Little, announced in September, 2021 that New Zealand was now ready for assisted dying as a new health service, to be introduced on 7th November 2021.

The government is committed to making assisted killing acceptable and accessible for all New Zealanders. To achieve this objective the government is coercing the 5,500 general practitioners in New Zealand to betray their medical ethics and to accept that killing their patients with a lethal injection or assisting in their suicide, is a health service.

The government is hoping to capitalise on the trust that members of the community have in their own GP to provide this killing service.

To achieve this objective the government is providing three learning modules on line for all registered medical practitioners. For those who are prepared to administer a lethal injection to their patients and receive the generous remuneration of $3,000 for each patient killed, it is compulsory to watch a further five educational modules.

Dr Kristine Good, Registrar Assisted Dying, was encouraged that there was a small but increasing number of “GPs who are finding it rewarding to work with patients who seek assistance in dying”. Right to Life is appalled that the government is seducing doctors with language that makes lies acceptable and murder respectable.

Right to Life is concerned that the government is determined to undermine the Hippocratic tradition of respect for the sanctity of life that has permeated the practice of medicine for two thousand years.

Right to Life believes that it is the government’s intention to reduce the medical profession to the status of obedient agents of the state, who will have the ultimate authority to decide which lives are of value and to be protected and which lives may be destroyed.

Right to Life requests that the medical profession oppose the government’s agenda and remain faithful in upholding the Hippocratic tradition.

A doctor who is prepared to kill their patient as a treatment option is the most dangerous man in the land.

High Court Upholds duty of Doctors to Cooperate in Killing of Unborn !

Justice Rebecca Ellis, in the case of the NZ Health Professionals Alliance v the Attorney General rejected the case of the Alliance that the Abortion Legislation Act 2020 sections 14 & 15 were coercive. The Alliance were opposed to being involved in the killing of unborn children on conscience grounds. The law requires doctors who are not prepared to kill the child to refer a woman seeking an abortion to the nearest provider, this was not a requirement prior to 2020.

 Right to Life commends the Alliance for its integrity in defending the supremacy of conscience in medicine for the protection of patients especially the unborn, the weakest and most defenceless members of our human family and their mothers. The Alliance deserves the wholehearted support of the  community.

The Judge ruled that doctors should not allow their conscience to prevent them from referring the woman to an abortion provider. The Abortion Legislation Act 2020 allows an unborn child to be killed for any reason up to 20 weeks gestation. From 20 weeks to birth, the baby may be killed if the abortionist believes it is “appropriate” and has “consulted another doctor”.

The doctor consulted is not required to agree that the killing is “appropriate”.

The Justice ruled that no rights are infringed by the abortion law, ignoring the fact that the right to life of the unborn child is violently violated and the right of the mother to be given the love and help that she needs to choose life for her precious child.

The Attorney General represented the government of Jacinda Ardern. The Prime Minister was the architect of this Abortion legislation and will be delighted that Justice Ellis has upheld her legislation that prohibits doctors from trying to protect the life of their tiny defenceless patient, the unborn child, by refusing to refer them to an abortionist.

This decision is critical for the practice of medicine in New Zealand. For more than 2,000 years medicine has been practised in accordance with the informed conscience of health professionals who are committed to uphold the sanctity of life of every human being from conception. Doctors providing care to a pregnant woman know that they are caring for two precious patients.

At the Nuremburg trials in 1946 of Nazi doctors who were charged with crimes against humanity, they claimed that they were just following orders, however this defence was dismissed by the Court who stated that the doctors had a duty to follow their informed conscience.

Right to Life believes that there is now no place in medicine for doctors who wish to practise medicine with a conscience that recognises the right to life of every individual from conception to natural death.

The government demands that doctors become agents of the state, follow orders and implement the killing of the unborn under the guise of it being a health service.

In the words of our Prime Minister, it is now “a reproductive choice for women”. She has decreed in her legislation that the unborn child is not a human being endowed with a right to life until it is born. In killing an unborn child we do no harm because it is not a human being.

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Right to Life believes that It is time for the members of our community to rise up and protest at the destruction by this government of conscience directed medicine.

Euthanasia Free Surgeries in New Zealand

Doctors are now at the front line in protecting the lives of vulnerable patients from the imminent threat of the End of Life Choice Act, which following a referendum on Saturday 17th October comes into force on 7th November 2021. This anti-life Act if not repealed, will ultimately destroy the trust that the community has in the medical profession and indeed the medical profession itself.

Patients place their health and lives in the hands of their doctor because they trust their doctor to care for them and not to kill them.

Patients have a right to know if their general practitioner is committed to upholding the ethics of their profession; to respect the sanctity of life of every patient and to oppose giving a lethal injection to a patient or assisting in their suicide, a time-honoured part of the Hippocratic Oath.

Right to Life believes that doctors have an obligation to advise their patients that they uphold medical ethics and will refuse to participate in or cooperate with the killing of patients as provided for in the End of Life Choice Act 2019.

Right to Life encourages medical practices to prominently display in their surgery a declaration that their’s is a euthanasia free surgery and that the doctors in this practice are committed to caring for their patients in accordance with the ethics of the medical profession.

Right to Life has written to the New Zealand Medical Association (NZMA) and the Royal College of General Practitioners confirming our support for them in opposing euthanasia. We have also requested that they consider encouraging their members to advise their patients of their opposition to euthanasia.

The World Medical Association [WMA], at its annual Assembly in Tbilisi, Georgia, in October 2019 adopted a revised Declaration on Euthanasia and Physician-Assisted Suicide.

This states: ‘The WMA reiterates its strong commitment to the principles of medical ethics and that utmost respect has to be maintained for human life. Therefore, the WMA is firmly opposed to euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide.’

An open letter opposing a “yes” vote for the euthanasia referendum was signed by 1,742 doctors. “Doctors are deeply concerned about the risks in this Act.” Organiser Dr Sinead Donnelly, a Wellington-based Palliative Medicine specialist says. “In our profession every day we look after people who face dying, people who are extremely vulnerable and often feel they are a burden. Imagine introducing this choice to those people.” Let us stand in solidarity with our dedicated medical profession as they come under attack from this culture of death.
