A Nation that kills its own children is a nation that has no future

The war against women commenced on the 1st April 1978, it has now been conducted for forty-three years. 

From 1st April 1978 until 31st December 2020, a total of 546,482 unborn children have been killed by the government in New Zealand in a state authorised and funded holocaust against our own children. This violent holocaust is now perpetrated under the title of “health care.” 

Their mothers, who are deprived of the loving support and help that they needed. are the second victims of this holocaust or sacrificial killing.

 Each year more than 13,000 unborn children are killed, that represents an estimated 36 children each day being taken to abortion facilities to be poisoned, suctioned out of their mother’s womb or violently dismembered, their remains treated as medical waste. Nearly one in five pregnancies end with the violence of abortion, their only crime being unwanted. 

Each one of these children was created by God to love and to be loved; they were endowed with special gifts to bless our nation. Their killing was a grave offence to their Creator and a crime against humanity. God will not be mocked, He is infinite justice and we will be held to account for the murder of His precious infants.

Let us remember with grief that the state funded abortion industry for the killing of our precious unborn will continue unabated. The state has ensured that we are all implicated in the murder of our precious children, their innocent blood is on our hands for it is our taxes that funds the abortion industry. We cannot remain silent for our silence is consent.

This holocaust commenced in 1978 and has accelerated with the passing of the Abortion Legislation Act 2020, initiated by the Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, which permits the killing of the unborn effectively up to birth. This legislation had  overwhelming support from her Labour caucus, the Green party, ACT party and 17 National Party M.Ps.

Right to Life contends that because of the silence of many Churches there should be a sign outside every abortion facility that reads, ”Open with the consent of the local churches.”

The Minister of Justice, the Hon Khris Faafoi, justifies the killing because he claims that the Crimes Act does not recognise the unborn child with a right to life until it is born.

The Minister, in response to an Official Information Act request, disclosed that he had no scientific or other evidence to prove that the unborn child was not a human being. Right to Life asks how can we have justice for the unborn when government ideology trumps the irrefutable truth that the unborn child is a human being from conception?

This government and previous governments refuse to accept that human life begins at conception and that every child is an unrepeatable miracle of Gods loving creation endowed at conception with human rights the foundation right being an inalienable right to life.

Justice begins in the womb, this is the justice issue of our era. Woe to those who do not defend life.

Right to Life Requests that the Minister of Justice Resign

The Minister in continuing to refuse to protect the unborn child has failed in his duty to protect the weakest and most defenceless member of our human family. As a consequence of his failure to fulfil the duties of his office Right to Life requests that the Minister resign his warrant as the Minister of Justice. In the event that he does not resign, we request that the Prime Minister remove him. 

 The Minister of Justice, Kris Faafoi who has the privilege and duty to provide effective legal protection for the lives of all New Zealanders from implantation to natural death continues to uphold the legal fiction that the unborn child does not become a human being with a right to life until it is born.

He continues to refuse to seek amendment of the law to recognise that the unborn child is a human being with a right to life by repealing section 159 of the Crimes Act 1961. The unborn child is one of us. When the Minister denies the humanity and the right to life of the unborn child he is denying our humanity and right to life.

He continues to assert that Parliament has the right to decide who is a human being and who has a right to life. Today the government denies the humanity of the unborn child, tomorrow the government may deny the humanity of those with dementia and Alzheimers disease.

Right to Life asked the Minister in August 2021 under the Official Information Act,

“What scientific or other evidence do you have to support section 159, Killing Unborn Child in the Crimes Act , which states that the unborn child does not become a human being until it is born.” He has acknowledged that he has no scientific evidence or other evidence to support his contention that the unborn child does not become a human being with a right to life until it is born.

It is simply incredible that in spite of the minister having no evidence to justify this legal fiction, he is prepared to uphold this injustice which results in the murder of more than 13,000 unborn New Zealanders every year, authorised and funded by the government. Right to Life believes that he does this because he has the support of the Prime Minister and the caucus of this government, many in Parliament and of course the media of New Zealand.

It is an unspeakable tragedy that the Minister does not recognise that life begins at conception and that every child is a unique and unrepeatable miracle of God’s loving creation, made in His image and likeness and endowed at conception with an inalienable right to life.

Right to Life makes no apology for continuing to be a voice for women and our unborn. We are committed to continue to campaign for legal recognition of the unborn child as a human being endowed by its Creator with an inalienable right to life.

United States Supreme Court to provide justice for women and unborn children

After forty eight years of bloodshed and the violent killing of more than 62 million innocent and defenceless unborn children in the United States the Supreme Court is considering the case of Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organisation that challenges the law of Mississippi prohibiting abortion after 15 weeks.

The oral arguments reveal a desire on the part of the Court to consider the court’s appalling Roe v Wade 7 to 2 decision of 1973 which unjustly found a constitutional right to kill an unborn child up to birth by invoking the fifteenth amendment, the right to privacy.

The overturning of Roe v Wade court decision will be a huge victory for women and their unborn not only in the United States but throughout the world including New Zealand.

Chief Justice Roberts affirmed that the viability of the child was irrelevant to permitting abortion as the unborn child was always a child.

  • Justice Alito affirmed that human life began at conception.
  • Justice Thomas concluded that there was nothing in the Constitution allowing abortion.
  • Justice Barrett asserted that with safe havens available in all states for unwanted babies abortion was not an option.
  • It was Justice Brennan who wrote the majority decision who said that if it could be proven that human life began at conception then his decision would collapse.

Today much is known about the wonderful life of the unborn child in the womb. Medical science readily acknowledges that human life begins at conception and that the child is a human being from conception. Now is the time for the overturning of Roe v Wade.

ALRANZ, the Abortion Law Reform Association of NZ, an organisation with an estimated national membership of about 46 members, believes that the killing of an unborn child is not a crime and it is health care.

ALRANZ supports the killing of the unborn up to birth. It refuses to recognise the unborn child as a human being with a right to life. It deplores the threat to Roe v Wade and fears that the legal right to kill an unborn child in New Zealand will be undermined.

Right to Life welcomes these Supreme Court developments and looks forward to the overturning of Roe v Wade. It is then expected that the Abortion Legislation Act 2020 would be repealed. Abortion would then return to the Crimes Act with legal recognition of the unborn child as a human being endowed by its Creator with a right to life.

Minister of Justice continues to deny humanity of unborn children

Right to Life believes that the Minister of Justice the Hon. Chris Faafoi, is failing in his fundamental duty to promote effective legal protection for every human being in New Zealand from conception to natural death. He has acknowledged that he has no scientific evidence to support his contention that the unborn child does not become a human being with a right to life until it is born.

 It is an unspeakable tragedy that the Minister, does not recognise that life begins at conception and that every child is a unique and unrepeatable miracle of God’s loving creation, made in His image and likeness and endowed at conception with an inalienable right to life.

Right to Life makes no apology for continuing to be a voice for women and our unborn. We are disappointed that the Minister continues to refuse to protect our unborn. He continues to uphold, without any evidence, the statement that he made in a letter to our Society on 24th September 2021, this is a violation of human rights and a crime against humanity.

“Abortion is a health issue, not a criminal issue. It is also an issue of the women’s autonomy agency and reproductive rights that everyone has the right to decide what they will do with their own body”.

These are dangerous and dehumanising lies that sustain the government’s war on women, their precious unborn and on the family.  Medical science confirms that human life begins at conception and that up to birth there is no other stage of development at which the human child becomes a human being. Medical science is unanimous in upholding the belief that  the child is a unique and separate human being with its own blood group temporarily residing in its mother’s womb and in control of the pregnancy.

The Minister of Justice, in a response of 23rd August 2021 to Right to Life under the Official Information Act, had advised that he does not have any scientific or other evidence which states that the unborn child does not become a human being until it is born.

Right to Life believes that the Minister does not believe the fiction which he is instructed  to uphold in order to justify the killing of more than 13,000 innocent and defenceless unborn children in New Zealand each year, authorised and funded by this government.

Right to Life asked the Minister of Justice under the Official Information Act on 3rd October 2021:-

  • Is it your policy to accept that section 159 upholds a legal fiction that is contrary to medical science?
  • Is it your policy to accept that the unborn child until birth is not a human being?

The Minister responded on 22nd October, 2021, he advised that he was declining our request under section 18[g] of the Act on the grounds that,” the information requested is not held by me or by my office.”

Right to Life will continue to campaign for the urgent repeal of section 159 of the Crimes Act, it is untenable for the Minister to continue to defend section 159 which sustains the legal fiction that the unborn child is not a human being until it is born.

Minister of Justice cannot justify the murder of the innocent!

To justify the murder of more than 13,000 innocent and defenceless unborn children each year the government of Jacinda Ardern has to sustain the fiction that they are not human beings.

 The Minister of Justice, Hon Kris Faafoi, advised Right to Life that he had no scientific or other evidence or it could not be found to support section 159 of the Crimes Act, which states that the unborn child does not become a human being until it is born.

This response was made by the Minister on 23rd August, 2021 in reply to an Official Information Act request made by Right to Life on 5th August, 2021.

Right to Life wrote again on 26th August, asking the Minister under the Official Information Act:-

•         Is it your policy to recognise that the unborn child is a human being at conception, at implantation or some other point before birth, or at birth?

•         Is it your policy to believe that the unborn child has a right to life?

•         Is it your policy to believe that the Crimes Act should recognise the humanity of the unborn child and its right to life?

The Minister replied on 24th September, 2021 “As you are aware, the “born alive” principle sets the legal standard for when an unborn child is recognised as a human being and has a “right to life”. The established jurisprudence in New Zealand is that human rights do not accrue until human life is possible and that the widely accepted human rights that we all understand, apply when they are capable of being exercised”.

It is absolutely appalling that the Minister, who admits that he has no evidence to support the legal fiction that the unborn child is not a human being from the moment of conception, continues to seek justification for the murder of more than 13,000 unborn children each year on the grounds that they are not human.

This is a crime against humanity. Right to Life believes that the blood of the innocent is on his hands. How can the Minister claim that we have a just society when the government of Jacinda Ardern authorises and funds the murder of the innocent as a core health service?

Justice Miller, in the High Court Wellington in Right to Life v. The Abortion Supervisory Committee, stated in his judgement of 8th June 2009 in respect to section 159 of the Crimes Act, Killing of a child:-

 “The rule according human rights only at birth is founded on convenience rather than medical or moral grounds.”

 “A legal right to life would be incongruous in such a law, for it would treat the unborn child as a separate legal person, possessing a status fundamentally incompatible with induced abortion. Far from modifying the born alive rule, the abortion law rests on it”.

Right to Life is passionate in pledging to the community that we will not rest until this iniquitous legal fiction is repealed and replaced with legislation that recognises the unborn child as a human being from conception and endowed with an inalienable right to life.

Born alive rule – a legal fiction exposed

Right to Life requests that the Prime Minister direct the Minister of Justice to urgently draft a bill to repeal section 159, of the Crimes Act and introduce legislation that will recognise the humanity of the unborn child from conception endowed with an inalienable right to life.

The Minister of Justice, Hon Chris Faafoi, in a response to Right to Life under the Official Information Act has advised that he does not have any scientific or other evidence which states that the unborn child does not become a human being until it is born.

The question presented to the Minister was:-

“What scientific or other evidence do you have to support section 159, Killing Unborn Child, in the Crimes Act 1961, which states that the unborn child does not become a human being until it is born”?

Medical science confirms that human life begins at conception and that up to birth there is no other stage of development at which the human child becomes a human being.

This fundamental truth was confirmed by the Royal Commission on Contraception Sterilisation and Abortion in its report to Parliament in 1977.

The child has a mother and a father, it is a member of the human race. Every child is a unique and unrepeatable miracle of God’s creation deserving of our respect and protection. Today a great deal is known about the amazing life and development of the child in the womb.

Justice Forest Miller, in the High Court, Wellington in the case Right to Life v. the Abortion Supervisory Committee stated in his judgement of 8th June 2009 in respect to section 159 of the Crimes Act, Killing an unborn child:- “The rule according human rights only at birth is founded on convenience rather than medical or moral grounds.”

“A legal right to life would be incongruous in such a law, for it would treat the unborn child as a separate legal person, possessing a status fundamentally incompatible with induced abortion. Far from modifying the born alive rule, the abortion law rests on it”.

The Hon Andrew Little, as Minister of Justice, presented the Abortion Legislation bill to Parliament, designed by the Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern At its first reading he said,

”I accept on legal and moral grounds the established jurisprudence in New Zealand that human rights do not accrue until human life is possible, and that the widely accepted human rights that we all understand apply when they are capable of being exercised, which is to say I accept the “born alive” principle that guides our courts today”.

Since 1978 more than 540,000 unborn children have been killed before birth under the pretext that they were not human beings. This is equivalent to the population of Christchurch and Dunedin.

This is a violation of their human rights, violence against women and their precious unborn children.

Right to Life believes that because of the important admission of the Minister of Justice, this contentious anti-life Abortion Legislation Act has lost its legitimacy and should be urgently repealed. Abortion should be in the Crimes Act. The unborn child is a human being. It is the foundation of the law that it is always a crime to kill an innocent human being.

Born alive rule – a legal fiction

The Crimes Act 1961, section 159, “Killing Unborn Child” perpetuates the legal fiction that an unborn child is not a human being and has no human rights until it is born.

 This lethal fiction is used to justify the brutal and violent murder of thousands of children in the safety of their mother’s womb. That they could be poisoned, suctioned from the womb or violently dismembered under the appalling idea that this is “health care”, that is authorised and funded by the government as a core (essential) health service.

This is a fiction that was first formulated in England into common law in 1628 by Sir Edward Coke to differentiate between homicide and abortion.

Little was known in 1628 about the amassing growth and development of the child in the womb. Scientific evidence today provides irrefutable evidence with 3D ultrasound scans and surgery in the womb that the unborn child is truly human and the weakest and most defenceless member of our human family.

This section was used by the Hon. Andrew Little, to justify the killing of unborn children up to twenty weeks for any reason, and up to birth if a doctor considered it appropriate. This was the first time in the history of our New Zealand Parliament that a government argued that the unborn child was not a human being, did not have a right to life and that it was not a crime to kill it.

The Minister stated on 8th August 2019 when presenting the Abortion Legislation bill to Parliament for its first reading

“We will hear extravagant language in the public debate about this referring to “killing” and “murder”.

“I reject those notions. I accept on legal and moral grounds the established jurisprudence in New Zealand that human rights do not accrue until human life is possible, and that the widely accepted human rights that we all understand apply when they are capable of being exercised, which is to say I accept the “born alive” principle that guides our courts today.”

In 1983 the Society for the Protection of the Unborn Child successfully gained the support of the Prime Minister Sir Robert Muldoon, to have a Private Members bill titled “Status of Unborn Children bill” presented to Parliament by Hon. Doug Kidd, MP. Sadly, this bill was defeated by 48 to 30 votes at the 1st reading due to the concerted actions of pro-abortion MPs.

It is important to note that there is strong support in the community for recognition of the humanity of the unborn child before birth. A poll conducted by Curia Marketing Research on behalf of Right to Life in September 2019 found the following results.

  • 25 % believed that human life began at conception
  • 14 % believed life began at implantation of the embryo in the womb
  • 26 % believed that human life began between implantation and birth
  • 11 % believed that human life began at birth
  • 23% of the 1004 people surveyed were unsure or refused to respond

This poll reveals that 65% of those polled believed that the unborn child was a human being before birth. A similar poll with the same questions was conducted in 1997 by Neilsen which revealed that 85% of those polled believed that the unborn child was a human being before birth.

Right to Life is continuing to campaign for the re-introduction of the Status of Unborn Children Bill and will not rest until Parliament gives recognition to the unborn child as a human being from conception endowed by its Creator with an inalienable right to life.

Poll Reveals Government has no Mandate to Impose Radical Abortion on our Nation

The New Zealand government has no mandate to declare that abortion does not kill a human being with a right to life.

Neither does the government have a mandate to declare that abortion is not a crime and should be taken out of the Crimes Act.

Nor does the government have a mandate to declare that abortion is “a reproductive choice for women.”

A poll recently conducted by Curia Market Research on behalf of Right to Life reveals that the government has no mandate from the people of New Zealand to impose its radical Abortion Legislation Bill on the nation. The results emphatically reject the uninformed opinion of the Minister of Justice when he denied the humanity of the unborn child and its right to life. made in his address on the 8th August in presenting his radical anti-life Abortion bill. Andrew Little said;

“I reject the notion that abortion entailed killing another human being and I accept on legal and moral grounds that human rights do not accrue until human life is possible.”

The poll was conducted between Monday 26 August and Tuesday 10 September 2019. The sample population was aged 18 or older who were contactable by a landline or mobile phone. 1,000 respondents agreed to participate.

There were two questions asked, the first, “at what stage do you personally believe a fertilized egg becomes a human being. Choose from the following options?

At the time of conception when the egg is fertilised by sperm.
At the time of implantation when the embryo attaches to the womb.
At some point between implantation and birth.
At birth.

A total of 65% of the respondents believed that the unborn child became a human being between conception and prior to birth.

The second question was: – At what stage do you believe the human rights of the unborn child should be protected by New Zealand law? Answer from the following options;

A total of 55% of respondents believed that the human rights of the unborn child should be protected between conception and prior to birth. This refutes the proposal of the me Minister that abortion should be taken out of the Crimes Act.
The results of this poll are very similar to the results of a poll conducted in 1997 with the same questions on behalf of Right to Life.

Of those who had an opinion 51% believe that a fertilized egg becomes a human being at conception or implantation and 65% believe that the new human life becomes a human being between conception but before birth. This finding reveals that a substantial majority of New Zealanders oppose the opinion of the Minister of Justice and the Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, that abortion does not kill a human being.

Of those who had an opinion 77 percent believe that the human rights of the unborn should be protected by New Zealand law between conception but before birth. Again this finding reveals that the vast majority of New Zealanders oppose the opinion of the Minister of Justice and the Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern that our abortion laws should be liberalised.

Justice Demands a Referendum to Recognise Right to Life of Our Unborn Children

Right to Life requests that the Labour led government conduct a binding referendum, the question being:- “Do you recognise the unborn child from implantation as being a human being endowed by its Creator with human rights, the foundation right being an inalienable right to life?” This is the justice issue of our era.

Right to Life requests that our Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern as a woman and as a mother lead by example, to give legal recognition to the unborn child as a human being from implantation endowed with human rights, the foundation right being the right to life.

The Minister of Justice in a response of the 16th March to an Official Information Act request from Right to Life confirmed that the government supported the born alive law contained in Section 159 of the Crimes Act 1961, that an unborn child does not become a human being until it is born. The section states that the born alive law was “for the purposes of the Crimes Act”. It was never the intention of Parliament to deny the humanity of the unborn child. This whole section is a legal fiction intended to differentiate between homicide and the killing of an unborn child.

A poll conducted by AC Nielsen in 2004 on behalf of Right to Life found considerable support for recognising the humanity of the unborn child, The poll of 1000 persons found that 36% believed that the unborn child became a human being at conception, 14% at the time of implantation and 28 % at a point between implantation and birth. There were therefore a total of 78% who believed that the unborn child was a human being before birth. And a poll of a 1,000 persons conducted by Curia Market Research in April 2019 on behalf of Family First found 47 % believed that the human rights  of the unborn child should be legally protected from about six weeks once a heartbeat can be detected. Instead of following it’s own agenda, why does the government not amend the law to reflect public opinion?

There are a small number of well organised persons, headed by Jacinda Ardern, that are resisting the legal recognition of the unborn child’s right to life. Leading the charge are the anti-feminist movement led by, the Family Planning Association, the Green Party, and the radical left of the Labour Party, all of whom are strident advocates for the killing of our innocent and defenceless unborn.

It is disappointing that our government has $2.2 million to conduct a referendum on legalising the personal use of cannabis, an issue that is a threat to the lives and health of New Zealanders. It is shameful that the government gives priority to legalising the smoking of cannabis but has no interest in promoting the right to life of our unborn. New Zealand cannot be considered a just society until the New Zealand bill of Rights protects the human rights of every New Zealander from conception to natural death.

We can not state more clearly that Jacinda Ardern is the prime driver for the decriminalisation of abortion in New Zealand. The Prime Minister, does not recognise the humanity of the unborn child, nor its right to life. Right to Life believes that it is her belief that the child is the property of the mother. It is her wish that abortion be taken out of the Crimes Act and treated as a health issue. She believes that the killing of an unborn child should not be a crime, but a human right. She believes the killing of an unborn child should be treated as a “reproductive choice for women”.

This is astounding as the Prime Minister on the 19 January 2018 was jubilant in announcing that “she was pregnant with her first child”. She has felt her baby kick, she has heard its heart beat and watched in awe at scans showing the wondrous miracle of creation developing in her womb, truly a beautiful baby and a unique and unrepeatable miracle of creation endowed with a right to life. How then can she be in denial about the humanity of the unborn child and its right to life?

Doctor Who Procured Four Abortions Acted Unlawfully – Justice Has Not Been done?

Right to Life asks why a doctor who has committed a serious crime has not been brought before the Court? 

The doctor called Dr N was found guilty of professional misconduct by the Health Practitioners Disciplinary Tribunal for breaches of the Contraception Sterilisation and Abortion Act 1977, and for prescribing the drug Misoprostol unlawfully to four women for the purpose of terminating the lives of their unborn children. The drug acts by causing uterine contractions resulting in the death of the child in the womb. Doctor N has been granted permanent name suppression by the High Court.

The Tribunal suspended Dr N from practicing for six months last year and imposed a number of other requirements concerning the conduct of her practice. The Tribunal found that the doctor had acted unlawfully in breach of the Contraception Sterilisation Act 1977. The Act requires that abortions may be authorised by two certifying consultants appointed by the Abortion Supervisory Committee and that pregnancy counselling be available and offered. The law also requires that abortions take place only in a facility licensed to perform abortions. These requirements are there to protect the health and welfare of women and to protect the right to life of unborn children.
