Media Release 26th October 2022
Right to Life asks the Prime Minister why she refuses to accept that the ultimate in child poverty is for the child to be deprived of its life in its mother’s womb?
Right to Life commends the Prime Minister, who is the Minister for child poverty reduction, for being passionately committed to reducing child poverty in New Zealand. The glaringly obvious fact however is that she continues to ignore the right to life of our unborn, our most vulnerable children. Indeed our Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, was the dedicated architect of the Abortion Legislation Act 2020, that allows for the violent killing of unborn children right up to birth.
Right to Life asks the Prime Minister, does she think she is reducing child poverty in New Zealand by allowing the killing of children before birth?
Since she became Prime Minister in 2017, more than 65,000 innocent and defenceless children have been violently killed in abject poverty in their mother’s wombs, shamefully funded by the government she heads, under the guise of abortion being a health service.
The Prime Minister stated in an opinion article that she wrote for Children’s Day 3rd March 2019, ”one of our goals and aspirations as a government is to make New Zealand the best place in the world to be a child, but we can always do more. The way we treat children, says so much about what kind of country we are.”
Right to Life agrees and asks how can she really be concerned about the welfare of children when legislation she has introduced supports the poisoning of unborn children who are then sucked out of their mother’s wombs or otherwise violently and painfully dismembered. one in every five conceived unborn children are killed in this way.
Prime Minister, what sort of country authorises and funds the violent killing of 36 unborn children every day? Why do you discriminate against our vulnerable unborn children?
Human life begins at conception, at this unique moment we have a new human being, a child, the weakest and most defenceless member of the human family that is a unique and unrepeatable miracle of God’s loving creation.
In 2018 Jacinda Ardern introduced the Child Poverty Reduction bill which had as its objective to encourage a focus on child poverty reduction and provide a commitment by government to address child well-being. This bill was passed in December 2018. There is no provision in this Act to recognise the poverty inflicted on unborn children.
It is the duty of government not only to reduce child poverty but to prohibit the killing of children, both born and unborn.
