Minister of Justice refuses to protect unborn children

Right to Life believes that our nation has a right to a Minister of Justice who is committed to protecting the lives of every New Zealander from Implantation to natural death. If she is not prepared to protect the innocent and defenceless unborn why should we trust her to protect us?

Right to Life is disappointed that the new Minister of Justice, Kiritapu Allan, refuses to recognise the status of the unborn child as a human being endowed by its Creator with an inalienable right to life.

The Minister of Justice has a duty to seek legal protection for every human being from conception to natural death. As a professed Christian from a missionary family of ten children, she should be aware that abortion is intrinsically evil, violates human rights and is a crime against humanity.

Right to Life wrote to the Minister in June following her appointment.  We make no apology for speaking up on behalf of the voiceless, our unborn children. We asked the Minister, if she believed:-

That human life begins at conception, that from conception the child is a human being endowed by its Creator with an inalienable right to life and deserving of our respect and protection.

The Crimes Act section 159, Killing unborn child, states that the child does not become a human being with a right to life until it is born. Do you have any scientific or other evidence that supports this statement?

The Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, promised us in 2017 that she would give us the most accountable and transparent government that we had ever had. Why then, is the Minister refusing to answer important questions concerning the weakest and most defenceless members of the human family? We will not be silenced and we will continue to speak up in defence of our precious children.

By voting for the anti-life Abortion Legislation Act 2020, she has made a public statement that she believes that it is not a crime to kill an unborn child, that its killing is in the words of Jacinda Ardern, a “reproductive health choice for women.”

She also believes the unborn child is not a human being and does not have a right to life until it is born, this is a legal fiction.

Government an increasing threat to human rights?

 Right to Life believes that the government of Jacinda Ardern is increasingly threatening our human rights. This is the most anti-life government that New Zealand has ever had.

 The first duty of government is to protect the right to life of every New Zealander from conception to natural death, it has failed to do this.

The government is threatening our human rights:-

With its anti-life Abortion Legislation Act 2020, which has denied the humanity and right to life of the unborn from conception until they are born. It is now no longer a crime to kill an unborn child up to birth.

This is violence against women and the defenceless unborn, It also undermines the dignity of women and motherhood.

With its support for the passing of the End of Life Choice Act 2019, which will allow, after 7th November 2021, doctors to kill their patients with a lethal injection or assist in their suicide. This is a threat to the lives of the elderly and the seriously ill.

  • Violating our right to free speech, assembly, communication and freedom of religion through its support of government policy incorporated in the contentious Contraception Sterilisation and Abortion [safe areas] Amendment bill of Louisa Wall MP, currently with the Health Select Committee.
  • Threatening the freedom of the media with $55 million funding with the requirement that it promotes the government’s agenda.
  • Potentially violating our right to free speech, with proposed hate speech laws, which may allow the government to decide what we may think and what we may say and potentially criminalise criticism of the government.
  • Attacking the traditional family of exclusively one woman and one man, with its promotion of the LGBTQI agenda which seeks to deny the truth that there are only two genders male and female, established at conception.
  • Challenging Family First’s charitable status in an appeal to the Supreme Court, that its advocacy for the traditional family does not serve the community.
  • Rejecting the 90 % of the 25,000 submissions made to the Abortion Legislation Select Committee which opposed its radical Abortion Legislation bill.
  • Rejecting the vast majority of the 39,159 submissions made to the Justice Select Committee opposing the End of Life Choice bill.

The government should realise that those who govern do so with the consent of the  governed.

The Prime Minister promised the nation following the general election in 2017, “that this would be the most transparent and accountable government New Zealand had ever seen”.

Right to Life believes that this government is neither transparent nor accountable and that the reality is an artfully crafted mirage.

The government is ignoring the will of the people that it is committed to serve, they will not forget.

Christchurch Abortion Capital of the South Island

The latest abortion statistics released by the Canterbury District Health Board confirm that Christchurch tragically continues to be the abortion capital of the South Island.

The Canterbury District Health Board has released to Right to Life under the Official Information Act the abortion statistics for 2020. The Board advises that in 2020 there were a total of 1,658 abortions performed at Christchurch Women’s Hospital and at the Gynaecological Procedure unit at the Christchurch Public Hospital.

This is an increase of 90 over the abortion total for 2018, the total for 2019 has not yet been released. Since the passing of the Abortion Legislation Act 2020 abortions do not have to be performed in a licensed facility. Medical abortions may be performed in a suburban medical centre and by telehealth with the dangerous drugs being taken by the women in their own home without medical supervision. These abortions are only reported to the Ministry of Health.

This is therefore not the abortion total for Christchurch as it does not include abortions performed outside of Christchurch Women’s Hospital. We may have experienced a 10 per cent increase in abortion numbers under the new extreme abortion law.

A total of 941 defenceless unborn children were violently dismembered and killed in their mother’s womb. A total of 717 unborn children were poisoned in their mother’s womb with lethal drugs.

Each one of these children was a unique and unrepeatable miracle of God’s loving creation endowed by its Creator at conception with an inalienable right to life. They were created to love and to be loved, they were endowed with special gifts to enrich our community. Their killing is crime against humanity and a violation of their human rights, why are the churches silent? We should also mourn for their mothers, wounded and often grief stricken, the second victim of abortion.

The Board advised that since 2010 the oldest child killed in an abortion at Christchurch Women’s Hospital was 34 weeks gestation, just 6 weeks before it was due to be born.

The Abortion Legislation Act 2020 came into operation on the 24th March 2020; this allowed for abortion on request for any reason up to 20 weeks. After 20 weeks it was required that a doctor considered it “appropriate.” There were 1,638 potentially normal pregnancies that were terminated in abortions of less than 20 weeks gestation and 20 late term abortions post 20 weeks.

The Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, the architect of the new anti-life and anti-feminist new abortion law, has decreed that the unborn child is not a human being, has no human rights until it is born and that it is no longer a crime to kill an unborn child.

The Canterbury District Health Board dedicated to protecting life and promoting health has an outstanding reputation for caring for the community that it serves. It really cares for its people. Right to Life believes that the Board and its dedicated staff do not support the burden inflicted on them by the government has decreed that killing the unborn is a core health service with unlimited funding. Why does the Prime Minister who tells us to be kind and the Minister of Health, Hon. Andrew Little, inflict this intolerable violence against women and their precious unborn on our communities and on the dedicated staff in our hospitals?

The CDHB advised Right to Life in a letter, “that staff recognise that for any woman considering abortion can be overwhelming and incredibly stressful and a decision not taken lightly. Staff deal gently, respectfully and professionally with women.”

Social workers talk of regret, guilt, depression and anxiety and that there is no pressure to decide.

Right to Life encourages our doctors and nurses to refuse to be involved in the killing of our defenceless unborn children and reject the culture of death which the government is imposing on them under the guise that it is a health service.

RANZCOG betrays women and their defenceless unborn patients

The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists are called to promote a culture of life and not to promote a culture of death. The College has cruelly betrayed and abandoned women and their precious unborn. This is the profession that has the great privilege and duty to be the noble defenders and guardians of the womb. It is their great privilege to encourage and help women to bring their child to birth. They know that human life begins at conception and that the unborn child is their precious patient.

The College in a recent media release, “supports moves to allow safe areas to be established around abortion services.”

Right to Life challenges the claim made by the College’s Vice-President Dr John Tait in a recent media release:

“It is RANZCOG’s position that women have the right to access all sexual and reproductive health services with dignity and without fear of harassment or invasion of their privacy.”

“Safe areas are a vital way to safeguard the rights of women accessing services and protect medical staff.”

The College seeks to present an image of care for women:-

  •   The College believes that the unborn child is not a human being until it is born,
  •   It is not a patient and has no right to expect the protection of a member of the College.
  •   It believes that it is not a crime to kill a defenceless unborn child, it is in fact a health service.
  •   It supports the killing of the unborn child up to birth if a doctor considers it appropriate.
  •   It seeks to present the false perception that the abortion clinic is a “safe” place and a sanctuary for women with child, it is neither safe for the child who is brutally poisoned, sucked from its mother’s womb or violently and painfully dismembered, or for the abandoned mother who is seriously wounded.

Right to Life encourages the Royal College to uphold the Fifth Commandment of God,” Thou shalt not kill.”

The College supports abortion as the “reproductive health service” which resulted in the killing of 12,857 children before birth in New Zealand in 2018. This is an estimated one in five pregnancies ending in the violent killing of many of their defenceless unborn patients.

Dr Tait wants us to believe, with the Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, that abortion is no longer a crime but a reproductive health service. Commendably he seeks to protect the dignity of women.

Where is women’s dignity in having her womb violently invaded and her precious child violently killed by a doctor?

Dr Tait seeks to protect women from harassment and invasion of their privacy, yet he and his colleagues refuse to recognise that abortion is harassment and a violent and unprovoked assault on a woman with the specific intention of killing her child. This is the ultimate harassment of a woman and the invasion of her privacy.

The College seeks to distract attention away from the violence that is inflicted on women and their child inside the killing centre, by pretending that peaceful and caring people who lawfully pray outside abortion clinics are a threat to women.

They are not a threat to women, as they are there to offer love, compassion and help to coerced and abandoned women in their hour of need.

Please sign the petition of Sarah Jane Cairns : Duty of care to those born alive in a failed abortion

Please sign this petition on the parliamentary website, placed there by Sarah Jane Cairns, a member of our society. It calls for the humane treatment of babies who survive an attempted abortion and are born alive. The Abortion legislation Act 2020 does not include in its clauses any specific protection for any babies who might survive an abortion.

That the House of Representatives amend the law to specify a requirement that children born alive as a result of an abortion be provided immediately with appropriate medical care and treatment.

Petition reason

I believe any health practitioner who performs an abortion that results in the birth of a child, or any other health practitioner present at the time the child is born, has a duty to provide the child with appropriate medical care and treatment. The duty owed by any health practitioner to provide medical care and treatment to a child born as a result of an abortion is no different than the duty owed to provide medical care and treatment to a child born other than as a result of an abortion.

Father God I pray that all the pro life organizations and churches get behind the petition. I pray that the signing and sharing of the petition is like a wild fire that sets hearts and minds and souls alive with passion for the unborn/ babies. I pray that over 10,000 people will sign it. I pray that this petition marks the beginning of great positive change in NZ, that this petition will lead onto others done to help the unborn gain rights and protections. Abortion Violates the Human Rights of the Unborn, mothers and also of fathers.

Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, why have you denied the rights of fathers?  The Abortion Legislation Act imposed on our nation by your government violates the human rights of the unborn child, the mother and also of the father. Men and women have equal moral rights and duties and should have equal legal rights and duties.

The Prime Minister, the architect of this extreme anti-life Act claims that the killing of the child is “a reproductive choice for women.” Men also have reproductive rights, this Act deliberately ignores and discriminates against men. The Act attacks the family by denying that the father is the head of the family, its God appointed protector. This is a debate that is long overdue. 

The abortion law gives no recognition to the fact that the unborn child has a father, or that the father has rights. The child is not exclusively her child, it is their child.

It is the Creator’s plan for procreation, that fathers have the privilege and duty to protect both the mother and the child. How many of the more than 13,000 unborn children killed last year would have been saved if their fathers had been permitted to protect them. We can vividly imagine their plaintiff cries for their father’s protection which were not allowed to be heard, this is an unspeakable crime against humanity.

Fathers have no right to be informed that their child is to be violently killed, nor are they required to give consent.

It is an appalling violation of human rights for the government to prevent fathers from protecting the life of their child from being violently murdered.

It is also appalling that fathers are prevented from protecting the mother of their child from the violence of the murder of her child in the safety of her womb.

This extreme abortion legislation destroys the trust that should exist between men and women. How can a man trust a women to be the mother of his children when she alone is given the right to have the child killed effectively up to birth, without his knowledge or consent?

The government is incoherent when it rightly holds the father responsible for providing for the child after birth while denying any right to provide protection for his child before birth.

The Hon Andrew Little, in presenting the Abortion Legislation bill at its first reading told Parliament, “that we trust women.” The inference was that we do not trust men and we want to exclude them from pleading for the life of their defenceless child destined to a violent killing at the hands of a doctor under the guise that he is providing a government funded health service.

It is the intention of Right to Life to pursue this important human rights issue by lodging a formal complaint with the Human Rights Commissioner.

With more than 500,000 unborn children killed since 1978, It is time for the men of New Zealand to rise up and demand an end to the killing of their children, the repeal of this infamous abortion law and the infliction of violence on the mothers of their children.

Joy to the world -the Birth of Christ and human dignity

God’s gift to the human race. The celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ, true God and true man, proclaims the ineffable truth of the sanctity and dignity of the humanity of every unborn child from conception. Christ, the Second Person of the Blessed Trinity, emptied Himself to take on our humanity. From the very moment of conception He the Son of God was also truly a human being. He deigned to take on the helplessness of being a human embryo and a foetus. He did not become a human being at birth, as He was fully human at conception.

Man alone is made in the image and likeness of God and is alone called to eternal union with God. Every child is lovingly formed in the womb of its mother by God. The Old Testament tells us in Genesis, “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. “Every child at the moment of conception is endowed with human rights, the foundation right being a right to life. Every child, regardless of the circumstances of its conception, is a gift from God, endowed with gifts to enrich our community.

God, by inviting the cooperation of Mary in the conception of Jesus, has sanctified the womb of every woman in a special way as being a sanctuary for the first nine months of life of every human being.

Every child is called to eternal union with God who made us for Himself. It is our privilege to love, respect and protect the life of every child from conception. Every child is a unique and unrepeatable miracle and masterpiece of God’s loving creation sent into this world with a plan for its happiness.

·       It is an appalling outrage and an unspeakable offence against God to deny the humanity of God’s masterpiece, the unborn child.

·       It is a grave offence to our Creator and  a crime against humanity for the State to deny the child’s right to life and to approve and fund its killing as a core health service by poisoning, violent dismemberment or by sucking it out of its mother’s womb.

·       It is a violation of the rights of women for the State to withdraw its protection for women from the violence inflicted on her by those seeking to kill her innocent and defenceless child. Every unborn child is a precious child of God, it is not as falsely described by the government as the contents of the uterus, the products of conception or after being violently killed, discarded as medical waste.

Right to Life believes that the Labour government of Jacinda Ardern, in passing the anti-life and anti- feminist  Abortion Legislation Act 2020, perceives the unborn as a threat to the nation.  It has sadly rejected God’s plan for procreation and aligned itself with the biblical King Herod in his slaughter of the innocents, seen to be a threat to his throne and to his kingdom.

Right to Life will continue to defend and uphold the dignity of women and motherhood to defend the humanity and the right to life of every human being from conception and to uphold the message of the birth of Christ that every child should be welcomed into the world with love, joy and hope.

Freedom of speech challenged by Hon Phil Twyford

Right to Life is concerned that the Hon Phil Twyford, the MP for Te Atatu, with the support of the Prime Minister, Hon. Jacinda Ardern, has sought to challenge the right of free speech of Alfred Ngaro, the National candidate for Te Atatu. He was asking members of his electorate if these are the values that you want in Parliament? The Minister is claiming that a statement made by Alfred Ngaro on his Facebook account was “a gross piece of misinformation.” “It has more in common with the fake news of the American religious right than the way we do politics in New Zealand.”

The killing of unborn children is a human rights issue not a religious issue. It is deplorable that the Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern, is quoted by One News as condemning the factual statement of Alfred Ngaro as,” blatant misinformation.”   

The statement on Facebook said that the Hon Phil Twyford supported full term abortion and abortion based on gender and disability. The Minister is angry that Alfred Ngaro is asking the members of his electorate of Te Atatu if your local MP should represent the values of the people?

The electorate have a right to know how their elected MPs vote in Parliament. Alfred Ngaro is providing a service to his community by reminding them how their elected member has failed to protect women and the unborn child by supporting this extreme abortion legislation and rejecting amendments to protect them. The position of the Minister on these important issues is a matter of public record, it is not fake news.

Right to Life believes that Alfred Ngaro was justified in believing that the Hon Phil Twyford  supported these appalling values as he had voted on the 17 March 2020 against these amendments to the Abortion Legislation Bill that allows abortions up to birth that would have:-

·       Prohibited abortions after 20 weeks except in extreme circumstances to protect the life or health of the mother.

·       Prohibited abortions on the grounds of sex selection.

·       Prohibited abortions after 20 weeks for babies diagnosed with a disability including Down syndrome.

Hansard is the official record of Parliament, it is not fake news and records these votes by the Minister. Hansard also records that the Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern and thirty-six of her caucus voted for this anti-life and anti-feminist Abortion Legislation Act, with only nine voting against the bill.

The Hon Phil Twyford also voted against amendments that would have:-

·      Provided appropriate care to any child born alive in an abortion.

·      Required pain relief being given to a child being aborted after 20 weeks.

·      Provided increased legal protection for women and their unborn child.

Right to Life is very concerned that Newshub which reported this attack on free speech by Minister Twyford and which is at the service of the community, did not uphold the right of free speech of Alfred Ngaro.

Jacinda Ardern’s Hypocritical Stance on Child Mortality

Right to Life believes that the Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern and her government by redefining unborn children as property and not human beings, presents a serious threat to the lives of every New Zealander.

The Royal Commission on Contraception Sterilisation and Abortion in 1977, warned Parliament, that if Parliament did not recognise the status of the unborn child as a human being and effectively protect the right to life of the unborn a future Parliament would refuse to protect the right to life of those with Dementia and Alzheimer’s. Jacinda Ardern has chosen to defy this warning.

Right to Life applauds the Prime Minister for expressing concern for the 600 babies that die each year in stillbirth and miscarriage. Each one of these deaths is a tragedy. In Morning Report on 27 July, the  Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said New Zealand could be doing more on infant mortality. But she wanted to make it clear that she was only talking about deaths from miscarriage and stillbirth.

“Let’s actually make sure that when we have a conversation about what more we could be doing, we’re talking about miscarriage and stillbirth.” Prime Minister, why do you refuse to talk about the nearly 13,000 unborn children who are violently killed in abortions each year in New Zealand, funded by your government and performed in Public Hospitals.

Right to Life asks the Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern if she is really concerned about child mortality why is she not also talking about the death of children from abortion.  Her statements expose appalling discrimination and indeed hypocrisy. Are they not ‘one of us’ and members of our human family? Every child is a unique and unrepeatable miracle of God’s loving creation that at conception, has been endowed with human rights, the foundation right being an inalienable right to life.

Why is she pretending to believe that children killed in an abortion are not human beings? As the architect of the Abortion Legislation Act that allows for the killing of innocent and defenceless unborn children effectively on request up to birth she is aware that her legislation, contrary to the facts of medical science, unjustly denies the humanity of the unborn and its right to life until it is born.

Jacinda Ardern may believe that the abortion issue in NZ is now settled law but she is completely wrong. We will not rest until we see the repeal of the appalling and inhuman piece of legislation that is the Abortion Legislation Act.

Right to Life appeals to every New Zealander NOT to vote for any politician who voted for this law.
