Media Release 31 July 2024
More than 5,000 babies have been born internationally after their mothers chose life for their child, stopped an early medical abortion [EMA], after taking the first abortion drug Mifepristone and were treated with progesterone with the abortion pill reversal protocol.
In reply to our letter of 17th July, the Director General of Health, Dr Diana Sarfati advised Right to Life, in her letter of 30th July, that the Ministry of Health “does not support that abortion reversal is safe and effective. All reputable medical and research sources agree that there is a lack of evidence of efficacy and that there are safety concerns related to abortion reversal. “
Right to Life is surprised and disappointed that Dr Sarfati has rejected the irrefutable evidence presented to her that Heartbeat International had recorded 5,000 births internationally since 2012 after EMAs were reversed with progesterone which had a 64 to 68 per cent success rate.
Right to Life believes that every one of these 5,000 babies are unique and unrepeatable miracles of God’s loving creation and are living proof that early medical abortions can be safely and effectively reversed with the Abortion Reversal Protocol.
Right to Life is concerned that the Ministry of Health deprived 10,000 women who endured an EMA in 2023 in New Zealand, of important information which prevented women from stopping an early medical abortion and saving the life of their unborn baby.
Right to Life believes that the Ministry of Health, which funds and promotes the abortion industry, contracts out the killing of unwanted unborn with its Decide National Abortion Telehealth Service is seeking to protect the abortion industry which gets paid for dead babies, not live babies.
Right to Life believes that New Zealand is the only country in the world whose government has threatened doctors with prison, if they prescribe progesterone to reverse an EMA, and those who dare to encourage women to do so. It will be a day of shame when a doctor is sent to prison for saving the life of a child.
The Ministry of Health is aware that the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists have stated that if a woman stops her EMA before taking Misoprostol and takes no further action, there is a reasonable chance that her baby will be born.
Right to Life believes that every woman has the right to choose to change her mind and stop an EMA, refusing to take the second abortion drug, Misoprostol.
Research reveals that the successful birth rate is an estimated 60 per cent in this scenario.
Right to Life requests the Ministry of Health to ensure that women considering an EMA are advised that they have a right to stop their abortion after taking Mifepristone, and taking no further action, while hopefully awaiting the birth of their precious baby.
