Labour & Jacinda Ardern – major source of misinformation!

Right to Life believes that the government of Jacinda Ardern is a major source of misinformation and disinformation in New Zealand. In a recent address to the United Nations, the Prime Minister sought support for censorship of broadcasting of terrorist activities on the Internet, which is absolutely necessary.

However the government agreement with big tech companies on this issue also opens the way to possible censorship of speech of which the government disapproves. 

Right to Life believes that the government is convinced that it is the sole source of truth and wants to vigorously suppress dissent that challenges the government’s agenda to destroy the traditional marriage of exclusively one man and one women.

Also it wishes to sexualise our children with Family Planning style sex education programmes designed to seduce and promote promiscuity, in order to destroy our Christian culture and replace it with the new secular humanist religion which proclaims the supremacy of humans over God.    

Jacinda Ardern is concerned at “mis & disinformation” and describes free speech as a weapon of war. Right to Life believes that this government wants to impose its will on the people, in order to do this, it must control what we think and what we say.

In 2017, in response to a letter from the Saving Downs organisation signed by 500 concerned parents, the Prime Minister stated that the legal protection for the lives of unborn children with Down syndrome and other disabilities from 20 weeks gestation would be retained under the new abortion law.

We were deliberately misinformed. The Abortion Legislation Act 2020 allowed for these Down syndrome children to be killed up to birth. This was appalling misinformation.

 In 2019 the Prime Minister told us that it would no longer be a crime to kill an unborn child, as it was not a human being and did not become a human being with a right to life, until it was born. Killing the child was now a reproductive choice and a health service. This was appalling misinformation.

 In 2020 the Prime Minister said, after being asked if there might be tax penalties or other sanctions for refusing a COVID-19 vaccine: “No, and we haven’t for any vaccination in New Zealand applied penalties in that way,” Ardern told The AM Show.

In 2021 her government imposed mandatory vaccination resulting in thousands of doctors, nurses, midwives, teachers and other workers being deprived of their employment. This was appalling misinformation.

In 2021 the government introduced the End of Life Choice Act 2019, which empowered doctors to kill their patients with a lethal injection or assist in suicide. We were told that this was not murder, but assisted dying and a new health service. The government promoted a “Yes” vote to the referendum in 2020 by conducting an advertising campaign of misinformation, and refused to correct a serious misunderstanding of the existing rights of patients to refuse or cease medical treatment. This was appalling misinformation.

 In 2022 the government, in the Standards for Abortion Counselling, sought to demonise Christianity by blaming missionaries for teaching Maoris that abortion was intrinsically evil and should cease. The government claims that this imposed a stigma on Maori people and that for 200 years Christianity has deprived Maori of their accepted cultural right to choose to kill their children before birth. This was appalling misinformation.

The killing of the vulnerable with lethal injection now health care

Right to Life encourages the Christian community to dedicate Sunday 7th November as a day of prayer in reparation to our Creator for the offence given to God with the introduction of the killing of the vulnerable terminally ill with a lethal injection or the assisting in their suicide.  Life is a precious gift of our Creator and He has commanded us in the fifth commandment, “Thou shalt not kill”, we ignore Him at our peril. We should also pray for God’s protection of the medical profession that they will uphold their ethic to do no harm and reject the killing of patients as a treatment option. That they too will not be seduced by the Minister of Health, Andrew Little and his generous financial inducement to doctors to participate in the killing of their patients.

We need to pray for God’s protection for the most vulnerable in our community, the aged the seriously ill and the handicapped, whom we fear, from overseas experience, may soon become victims of this insatiable monster that has been unleashed on our community.

Sunday 7th November is a day that will be recorded in our nation’s history as a day of shame and trepidation.

For on this day the End of Life Choice Act will have commenced its reign of terror among the most vulnerable members of our community.

This is the Bill sponsored by David Seymour of ACT, that became law because it had overwhelming support at its third reading of 33 Labour MPs, total support from the Greens with  8 MPs, NZ First with 9 MPs and 17 MPs from National.

We must not ever forget the shameful progress of this bill through Parliament. It passed its first reading 76 to 44 on the 13th December 2017. It was then referred to the Justice Select Committee that received 39,000 written submissions, 91.8% opposed to euthanasia and this bill.

The Committee also heard 3,600 oral submissions with 85% being opposed to the bill. In view of the overwhelming opposition to the bill the Select Committee reported back to Parliament that it could not recommend that the bill be passed. The bill passed its 2nd reading 70 to 50 on 26th June 2019. The bill was finally passed at its 3rd reading 69 to 51 on 13 November 2019.

The Act was subject to a national referendum at the general election on 17th October 2020.

Right to Life believes that the government’s information programme, ostensibly to inform the community of the consequences of the Act was misleading and biased.

A poll conducted in New Zealand between 31 October and 6 November 2019 by Curia Marketing on behalf of Euthanasia Free New Zealand revealed the following disturbing findings on what the End of Life Choice Bill would provide.

  • 85% thought that it included turning off life support
  • 79% thought it includes ‘do not resuscitate’ (no CPR) requests
  • 67% thought it includes the stopping of medical tests, treatments and surgeries.

The End of Life Choice Act does NOT make it legal to turn off life support, to make a ‘do-not-resuscitate’ request (no CPR) or to stop medical treatment.

These end-of-life choices are already legal and are not euthanasia. In these situations, a patient would die of natural causes – from their underlying medical condition.

The End of Life Choice Act is NOT about pain relief.

It’s already legal for a doctor to give a person enough medication to address their pain and make them comfortable, even if this may hasten their death as a side effect as the doctor seeks to neither hasten or cause the death of his patient.

This poll demonstrates that the public was not yet aware of the content and meaning of the End of Life Choice Act. We believed that in order to have a fully informed public referendum on this critical issue of allowing doctors to give patients a lethal injection or to assist in their suicide, it was essential that the above information be included on the government Referendum website.

Right to Life wrote to the Minister of Justice, Andrew Little requesting that this information be displayed on the government web site, the Minister refused. Right to Life believes that if the government had sought to properly inform the community of this critical information the referendum would have been soundly defeated.

Is the Government serious about suicide prevention?

How can the government be serious about supporting its Suicide Prevention Strategy while at the same time the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Minister and an overwhelming number of government MPs support government sanctioned and funded doctor assisted suicide? How can the Prime Minister say that she was wary of sending any message “that there was a tolerance for suicide in New Zealand.”

 The government has 2 task forces set up within the Ministry of Health. The first to implement the government’s Suicide Prevention Strategy and the second to implement   assisted suicide and euthanasia under the End of Life Choice Act, which comes into operation on 7th November 2021.

Right to Life asks is the government’s position incoherent?

We question the government’s sincerity in claiming to oppose suicide and working to prevent all suicide, while at the same time being committed to legalising and funding assisted suicide.

The taxpayers of New Zealand have a right to ask why the government has budgeted $40 million over four years in 2019  for the implementation of the Suicide Prevention Strategy, while in the 2021 budget the government has funded more than $11 million to provide assisted suicide and euthanasia under the End of Life Choice Act.

The government will be paying doctors to assist in suicide of their patients under the guise of health care.

A total of 654 people died by suicide in New Zealand in 2019/20. Our statistics are appalling, we have the highest youth suicide rate in the 41 member OECD.  Right to Life commends the government for including in the budget for 2019 funding for suicide prevention, specifically $40m for Maori and Pasifika suicide prevention

The government’s Suicide Prevention Strategy 2017 defines suicide as –“a death where evidence shows that the person deliberately brought about their own death.”

In New Zealand a coronial ruling decides whether a death is classified as suicide.

The strategy does not seek to define suicide as rational or irrational, all suicide is irrational.

Suicide is self – murder it is always morally wrong, it violates the sanctity of life and the fifth commandment, “Thou shalt not kill.” Suicide hurts families and communities and the government should be committed to preventing all suicides.

Euthanasia is about doctors killing their patients or assisting in their suicide. It is intrinsically evil; no referendum can legitimise anything which is evil. The prohibition against taking the life of another human being is the foundation of the law and medicine.

It is always wrong to kill another innocent human being.

The approval of the community, even in a referendum, can never make manslaughter or suicide  acceptable.

Right to Life believes that the government supported the referendum to distract public criticism from the government and to seduce and to implicate the whole community in the murder of the vulnerable.

Gore Health leads way in rejecting euthanasia by lethal injection for patients

Right to Life requests that the twenty District Health Boards in New Zealand follow the commendable example of the Gore Health Community Trust to protect the vulnerable by publicly refusing to have anything to do with providing their patients with euthanasia by lethal injection or assisting in their suicide.

There is no place for the euthanasia or assisted suicide of patients in our hospitals and hospices. Killing or assisting patients to die by suicide is not health care.

Right to Life also requests that the government does not direct DHBs to provide lethal injections and assisted suicide to patients in accordance with the End of Life Choice Act. The Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern stated after the election that “she wants to govern on behalf of all” . Hopefully this includes protecting the vulnerable in our community, the aged, the disabled and the seriously ill from being killed by a doctor as normal health care and an “end of life choice”.

Right to Life commends the Gore Health Community Trust for affirming the sanctity of life and its commitment to providing quality palliative care for its patients.

Gore Health chief executive Karl Metzler, (Stuff – 6 November) states the vast majority of physicians are opposed to the End of Life Choice Act.

“None of them got into medicine to end lives,” he said.

Euthanasia is not a core health service and District Health Boards are not obliged to provide euthanasia. According to the Oregon experience, for the state to set up a national euthanasia system would be very expensive and would benefit only a small group of elite white people.

All of our District Health Boards are cash-strapped and are struggling to provide the services which they are required to provide in mental health, cancer treatment and in other areas of care.

It would be an intolerable burden on the community to impose this expensive and unnecessary euthanasia system for the termination of the lives of vulnerable patients.

Our palliative care services are world class, but they are underfunded. Currently only 1 in 3 New Zealanders who need palliative care in one of our 33 hospices has access to a hospice.

The state should concentrate on providing increased funding for palliative care and refrain from funding euthanasia. Our health funds should be used exclusively to promote a culture of life and not a culture of death.

Repeal of Euthanasia Act –a Moral imperative

Right to Life believes that the End of Life Choice Act 2019 is an unjust law that fails to protect life, violates the common good, lacks legitimacy, should not be obeyed and must be repealed.

An unjust law is a human law that is not founded on eternal law and natural law. We have a duty to obey human made laws but when they disobey God’s law they must be disobeyed and repealed.

The EOLC Act violates the moral law because it violates God’s fifth Commandment, Thou shalt not kill. Parliament has no authority to violate God’s law.

It violates Article three of the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights, “Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person.”The preamble of the Declaration advises that our right to life is inalienable and universal, being inalienable we may not have it taken from us nor may we give it up.

It violates the New Zealand Bill of Rights 1993, Article 8, “Right not to be deprived of life.”

The Euthanasia referendum also undermines the EOLC Act’s legitimacy for the following reasons:-

  • The “yes” vote for the referendum was 65.2 per cent. It is believed that only one in five who voted yes had actually read the Act.
  • Right to Life believes that many of those who voted yes were grossly misinformed. The government MPs, who were overwhelmingly in support of the new law, claimed to be neutral, but conducted a campaign of misinformation about the referendum.

A poll conducted in New Zealand between 31 October and 6 November, 2019, by Curia Marketing on behalf of Euthanasia Free New Zealand revealed the following disturbing findings on what the End of Life Choice Bill would deal with or allow to be legalised:

•         74% thought that it included turning off life support

Why did the government refuse to address this widespread misunderstanding of the referendum?

The End of Life Choice Act is NOT about, nor does it make legal the action of turning off life support, to make a ‘do not resuscitate request (no CPR) or to stop medical treatment. All of these end of life choices are already legal, are not euthanasia and this new law does not change these actions.

The End of Life Choice Act is NOT about pain relief. It is already legal for a doctor to give a person enough medication to address their pain and make them comfortable, even if this may hasten their death as a side effect, as the doctor seeks to neither hasten or cause the death of his patient.

Euthanasia Referendum- temporary victory for Culture of Death

The support of 65.2 per cent who voted yes to the euthanasia referendum marks a sad day of infamy in our nation’s history. New Zealand now has the notoriety of being the first country in the world that has approved with a national referendum to allow the killing of its most vulnerable. New Zealand now becomes not only the most dangerous place in the world to be an unborn child but the most  dangerous place if you are elderly, seriously ill or disabled.

The architect of this legislation David Seymour and the Labour government who wanted an overwhelming “yes” vote  will be delighted their campaign of misinformation has produced the planned result.

This is the day that New Zealand accepted the implementation of the End of Life Choice Act that empowers doctors to administer a lethal injection to their patients or assist in their suicide as some sort of “health care”.

This Act is a threat to the lives of every person in our community. It is not the end of change in these laws,  but merely the first step in implementing the agenda of the international euthanasia movement, who ultimately desire assisted killing for anyone who is tired of life, or who believes that they may be a burden on their family or society so cannot justify their continuing existence.

This is the legislation that provides cover for the perfect crime, the victim is killed and disposed of, there are no witnesses and their death certificate is falsified to conceal the truth that the patient was actually killed by their doctor. No doctor will be tried for manslaughter or homicide, because they will always be acting “in good faith”.

This law may corrupt the medical profession and drive out some members who refuse to participate in mercy killing or assisted suicide. The trust between patients and their doctors will be eroded unless safer alternatives to euthanasia continue to be readily available and adequate funding is provided for palliative care. The safeguards which should protect the vulnerable are not specificed in this law – no independent witnesses are required, and no consultation with family or whanau is required under this law.

The duty of Parliament to protect the lives of every citizen, especially our weakest and most defenceless members has been changed forever. Parliament now has assumed the authority of our Creator. It now arrogantly believes that it has the decision making authority about who may live and who may be killed. It also believes that it has the authority to empower and direct doctors to ignore medical ethics to kill and not to care.

This tyrannical referendum posing as democracy is not the end, but the beginning of our battle against euthanasia. The pro-life movement will not abandon the vulnerable in our community, but re-commits ourselves  to fight unceasingly for the repeal of this obnoxious End of Life Choice Act.

Parliament has shamefully abdicated its responsibility to present a truthful and accurate campaign to educate voters on this critical issue, has ignored the wishes of the majority of the submissions against this dangerous law, and has failed to protect the vulnerable who may be coerced into an early death.

2020 End of Life Choice Act Referendum Radio Ad Campaign

Right to Life has produced and had recordings made for over a thousand 30 seconds in seven radio stations New Zealand wide. These include Radio Rhema, Life FM, Radio Tarana (Indian Radio Station), Pasifika stations Niu FM and Radio 531 PI, Wateea 530 AM the biggest Maori Radio channel, and Chinese Voice. We have targeted Christian radio as although we expected nearly all Christians would be against Euthanasia our research showed that many Christians shockingly belived that it was acceptable. Ethnic radio was also heavily targeted because this was deemed to be an unreached audience by other Pro-Life groups.

Judith Collins – Christian Politician

According to Newshub Judith Collins claims that her support for decriminalising abortion and making euthanasia legal “are consistent with her Christian faith”. She has said that she is a “liberal Anglican and her views are her own.” 

She is badly mistaken in believing that the violent killing of a defenceless and innocent child in the womb and the killing of the vulnerable with euthanasia are acceptable to the Christian faith. Right to Life believes that human life alone is sacred because it is created in the image and likeness of God. Abortion and euthanasia are intrinsically evil and must be vigorously opposed. 

Abortion and euthanasia are prohibited by the fifth commandment of God, “Thou shalt not kill .”  Acceptance of the commandments is imperative to our Christian faith. We cannot be truly Christian if we do not accept that God has commanded us not to take innocent life.

The beliefs of Judith Collins are not consistent with the teachings of the Anglican Church. A recent media release signed by the Anglican Bishops together with other church leaders in New Zealand  declared that, they believe supporting the End of Life Choice Act is unethical and dangerous because it would allow medical personnel “to actively end someone’s life or to assist them to commit suicide.”

It is commendable that Judith Collins believes in God, is a Christian and tries to live according to her Christian faith. She was giving a good example by getting on her knees to pray to seek guidance in voting at the general election.  New Zealand desperately needs parliamentarians who recognise that they have a duty to God to use the authority that has been given to them to legislate to protect the right to life of every human being from conception to natural death.

Abortion and euthanasia are intrinsically evil. Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person – among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life.

Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law:

Right to Life encourages Judith Collins to recognise that her Anglican Christian faith requires her to uphold the fifth commandment, “Thou shalt not kill.”

Cantabrians March to Defend the Right to Life

MARCH FOR LIFE CHRISTCHURCH

Right to Life commends the more than 1,000 Cantabrian men, women and children who peacefully and joyfully marched from Cathedral Square to Victoria Square in Christchurch today,  to express their support for a culture of life with love for mothers and their precious unborn.

Marchers were there to express opposition to the culture of death that threatens the lives of our unborn children and the welfare of women, the second victim of the violence of abortion. We remember the more than 500,000 innocent and defenceless New Zealand unborn children who have been killed since 1978. This same culture now also threatens the vulnerable in our community with euthanasia.

The marchers gave witness to our community to the sanctity of life of every human being from conception to natural death. They also gave a strong message to Parliament and government that we reject the Abortion Legislation Act 2020 that rejects the humanity of the unborn child and its right to life until it is born.

We will not rest until it is repealed. The marchers also reject the End of Life Choice Act and encouraged the community to vote No at the referendum. Voters were also encouraged to vote only for candidates who are committed to protecting life.

May our Parliament be attentive to the message we respectfully present, that we are absolutely opposed to the culture of death that our Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has inflicted on our country by removing abortion from the Crimes Act. Under the Abortion Legislation Act it is no longer a crime to kill an unborn child up to birth. In Jacinda Ardern’s own words killing an unborn child is now “a reproductive choice for women.” Ardern has also been a strong advocate for the End of Life Choice Act that would empower doctors to give a lethal injection to their patients or assist in their suicide.

The march began at the Cathedral Square and the marchers, in compliance with the level two restrictions walked in groups of 100 in warm sunny conditions through the streets of central Christchurch to Victoria Square where they were addressed by Pro-Life and Pro-family advocates who spoke passionately about the need to continue to speak out against the government’s war on women and unborn children.

Those who marched, want New Zealand to be a nation where the beauty and dignity of every human life is valued and protected from conception.

Which Leader will Protect Life and Promote Human Dignity?

In September our nation will make a decision that will determine the future of our country. This election is a watershed moment in our history and one in which we all have a part to play. We face the real possibility, of the return to power of a government that is both hostile not only to the sanctity of human life, but in fact also many of the foundational Judeo-Christian principles upon which our nation has been founded. The deconstruction of those values has been underway for decades but this government seems determined to complete that process. Ahead lies the very real threat of the legally sanctioned killing of our elderly and unwell. We also face increasing threat to freedom of speech and our religious freedoms.

Both Jacinda Ardern and Todd Muller wish to lead our nation as Prime Minister. It is a very great honour and privilege to be elected as the leader of our country. A Prime Minister needs to be a person of integrity and we believe one whose ethos includes a conviction that the lives of the weakest and most vulnerable persons in our community need to be protected in law. Unfortunately we do not see those qualities in Jacinda Ardern. Todd Muller commendably voted consistently against the Abortion legislation Bill, yet has publicly stated that he believes abortion is now with the enacting of that Bill, ‘settled law’. We cannot agree. It is not settled law, neither as slavery.

Who is best qualified to reaffirm the value of every human life from conception to natural death? We need a government that is committed to seeking the repeal of the infamous Abortion Legislation Act 2020 and opposing the killing of the vulnerable through implementing the End of Life Choice bill, should it be approved in the referendum.  Society through its laws and social institutions has a duty to protect and nurture all human life.

The Prime Minister who presents as charming, attractive and likeable was the architect of the Abortion Legislation Act 2020 that declares that it is no longer a crime to kill a child before birth and permits women to kill their children effectively for any reason, up to birth. She also opposed eight pro-life amendments that would have given increased legal protection for women and their unborn. These included protection for children with disabilities including Down syndrome, who may now be violently murdered up to birth. She also supported and voted in favour of the End of Life Choice Act and the the referendum which if passed, will permit doctors killing their patients or assisting in their suicide. Jacinda Ardern also supported the first reading of this legislation, that would have enabled the killing of the disabled.

We believe that these actions alone disqualify her on moral grounds from being New Zealand’s leader.

Todd Muller is committed to protecting the lives of every member of the human family from conception to natural death. He has a commendable 100% voting record in defending life. He opposed the anti-life Abortion Legislation Bill and the End of Life Choice Bill. It is however disappointing that he never took a call to speak up in defence of the right to life of the unborn in the abortion debate. Neither did he speak up in defence of the vulnerable in the euthanasia debate. It is hoped that should he become Prime Minister that he will accept the responsibility of providing leadership in defending the lives of the vulnerable in our community. He who remains silent in the face of attacks on the right to life of the voiceless shares the guilt of the oppressor.

Right to Life believes that there is no place in our Parliament for those who are not committed to protecting the lives of every member in our community from conception to natural death. We believe that the Jacinda Ardern Labour led government is a continuing threat to the vulnerable in our community. This is not the great Labour Party of Michael Joseph Savage that was founded on a commitment to social justice and a profound respect for the right to life of every individual from conception.

Right to Life encourages the electorate to elect at the next election a Prime Minister and Parliament who are committed to protect the right to life of every member of our human family and to vote No at the referendum on euthanasia.
