Jacinda Ardern is publicly committed to the decriminalization of abortion. She continues to claim that it makes criminals out of women. This is a very serious accusation. She also claims that abortion is not a crime and should be taken out of the Crimes Act. This is a very important social policy that will have catastrophic consequences for the protection in the womb of future generations yet conceived.
Abortion has been in the Crimes Act since 1856. It was the intention of Parliament since the founding of this nation to provide effective legal protection for the right to life of the unborn child. The Royal Commission on Contraception Sterilisation and Abortion appointed by a Labour government in 1975 recognized the unborn child as the weakest and most defenceless member of the human family, it recommended in its report to Parliament in 1977, that the unborn child continue to be given effective legal protection provided by the Crimes Act..
