Media Release 21 September 20201
Right to Life believes that we should be opposed to the government introducing a vaccination passport.
Such a move would be medical apartheid, discriminatory, a violation of our human rights and an instrument that the government could use to reward those who support the government’s vaccination programme and to punish those who refuse vaccination, they would become second class citizens.
The Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern has publicly stated that she does not support a vaccination passport, however her recent veiled threat made to the leaders of faith communities suggests that this would be a measure that she could use to achieve the compliance of faith communities with her vaccination programme.
The Prime Minister on Radio NZ on the 9th September warned:
“If you are a (vaccinated) faith leader who wants your congregation to continue to be able to worship together you can help support and enable that to happen by getting (supporting) your congregation to be vaccinated as well”.
The message to the faith communities is, those who are not vaccinated will be forbidden to pray and worship with those who are vaccinated. To implement this segregation it will be necessary to issue the vaccinated with a vaccination passport.
Right to Life believes that Vaccination passports actually protect nobody. Those who are vaccinated have no guarantee that they don’t have the virus to give to others including the vaccinated. It therefore does not make you safer to know everyone else is vaccinated.
There are many countries that have already instituted vaccination passports. Israel sets the standard with its Green pass introduced on 21 February 2021, it was later withdrawn in June then reintroduced for six months on 29 July 2021. It imposes restrictions on the unvaccinated prohibiting their attendance at theatres, malls, churches, synagogues, gyms, hotels, restaurants and Universities. The unvaccinated may only attend university on line. Secondary students sitting matriculation are required to be vaccinated. These are severe restrictions of civil liberties that have been vigorously opposed by many Israelites.
Right to Life encourages the community to resist any restrictions on our civil liberties that would be imposed on us by the government seeking to introduce a vaccination passport under the guise of promoting public health.
