Media Release 4 August 2022
Right to Life challenges Clare Perry, Deputy Director General of Health’s claim that for women to have ten or more of their children murdered before they are born will not affect their health.
Clare Perry, Deputy Director General of Health responded on the 2nd August, to Right to Life’s letter of concern to the Minister of Justice, Andrew Little, at the lifetime of grief, sorrow and psychological and physical damage inflicted on women by the loss of their children in repeat abortions.
Ms Perry “affirmed that abortion is health care and an individual’s choice. People do not have to give a reason for seeking an abortion. Abortion is proven to be safe and effective and there are no physical health concerns related to multiple abortions.”
Right to Life expressed concern to the Minister at the following statistics reported in 2020 of 18 women who had seven or more abortions.
- Nine instances where the woman reported having seven previous abortions.
- Six instances where the woman reported having eight previous abortions.
- Three instances where the woman reported having ten or more abortions.
Right to Life contends that many of these women were probably victims of physical, emotional or sex abuse and were threatened with abandonment if they did not have an abortion.
Right to Life believes that these women are victimised by the Abortion Legislation Act that inflicts on them the violent killing of their child wanted not by her, but the perpetrator of violence on the defenceless woman. Her request for an abortion is a cry for help that is callously ignored by the state.
Right to life’s request for an amendment to the law to protect these abused women and their defenceless unborn was ignored by Ms Perry.
Right to Life challenges Ms Perry’ claim that having ten or more abortions will not affect a woman’s health. What studies has her Ministry conducted to expose the damage done to women? It is an appalling abandonment of women and a denial of their dignity and worth for the state to authorise and fund the violent killing of their child on request without even bothering to require them to divulge the reason. The abortion law does not protect women, it protects men who are predators and abusers of defenceless women. When will the abortion law be amended to protect women and their precious unborn?
