Right to Life New Zealand is disappointed that Andrew Little and Jacinda Ardern support the decriminalisation of abortion. Our Parliament should be judged on the protection that it gives to the weakest and defenceless members of our community. The Labour Party was founded to protect the rights of the marginalised and the weak in society. It is disappointing that they are now departing from the founding principles of the Labour movement. Michael Savage and the founders of the Labour Party would turn in their grave if they could see what the current leaders now propose.
Since the Contraception Sterilisation and Abortion Act was passed in 1977 more than 500,000 children have been violently killed in the womb under a law that was intended to protect them. We don’t need to decriminalise the killing of the unborn, rather we need to, not only uphold the current legislation but to ensure it works as it was originally intended. [Read more…]
