Media Release 17 August 2022
Right to Life again reiterates its request that the government appoint a new Director General of Health who upholds a culture of life, acknowledging the sanctity of life of every member of our community from conception to natural death. We want the values of our Ministry of Health back, abortion and euthanasia and the culture of death have no place in the Ministry and we demand that they be removed and banished from the Ministry.
Right to Life is disappointed in the response dated 3 August 2022 of Clare Perry, the Deputy Director General of Health, Regulatory Services who had been asked by the Minister of Health, Andrew Little, to respond to our concerns at the appointment of Dr Diane Sarfati as Acting DG of Health.
Dr Sarfati believes that the unborn child is not a human being, has no right to life and does not become a human being until it is born. She believes that killing unborn children up to birth is a “health service”. Right to Life doubts that Dr Sarfati really believes this legal fiction.
Right to Life advised the Minister of Health on 6th June that we believed that her anti-life views on the sanctity of life disqualified her from appointment as Acting Director General of Health.
Clare Perry, stated, “I also note your concerns regarding the Manatu Hauora stance on abortion. The Abortion Legislation Act 2020 confirmed that abortion is a women’s health issue and Manatu Hauora is responsible for implementing the changes that the reform brought about. The Director-General has some specific obligations under this legislation, including reporting on abortion services and collection of information about abortion services. It is important that the people leading the health system understand that abortion is health care and enable accessible, equitable, person-centred, and quality abortion care.”
Right to Life does not and will never accept that the poisoning, suctioning of a child in the womb or its violent dismemberment is a health service, nor will we ever accept that it is” health care.” How can she claim that abortion is “person-centred” when it denies the humanity and personhood of the innocent and defenceless unborn child?
How can she claim “equity” when the sole object of abortion is the murder of an innocent child? This is language that seeks to make lies acceptable and murder respectable.
Abortion and euthanasia, thanks to the government of Jacinda Ardern, have now become the responsibility of the Ministry of Health. This is all part of a culture of death that is now permeating through the corridors of the Ministry corrupting the culture of life that should govern all that the Ministry does.
The Ministry has established a special unit staffed by seven personnel whose responsibility it is to oversee and promote access to the killing of the unborn and the terminally ill. It seeks to promote quality, safety, health and innovation in the killing of the unwanted unborn and terminally ill. The unit’s murderous agenda is hidden under its innocuous title, Quality Assurance & Safety Improvement & Innovation.
