Right to Life believes that the Prime Minister has offended many in New Zealand by misrepresenting the truth in her commencement address at Harvard University last week.
Never before in the history of our nation has a Prime Minister stood on a world stage and boasted about facilitating the killing of the weakest and most defenceless members of our human family. With a serene smile and a triumphant tone she told the assembled faculty and 8,000 students of her achievements, “we have decriminalised abortion.” The shameful response of the Harvard assembly was a standing ovation.
Prime Minister it is not “we” who decriminalised the killing of the unborn, but you and your government who decriminalised abortion. It was you, who has cruelly denied the humanity of our children and denied their right to life until they were born. It was you, as the architect of the notorious Abortion Legislation Act 2020, who chose to ignore the overwhelming opposition of the public. The Abortion Legislation Bill Select Committee received over 25,000 submissions with 91.6 % of these being opposed to the bill. Prime Minister, why did you treat us with contempt and ignore us?
The theme for her address was, “democratic systems and informed debate.” The inference was that New Zealand is a Parliamentary democracy.
Right to Life believes that the reality is that we don’t have a properly functioning Parliamentary democracy, we have a dictatorship that hides behind the façade of Parliament. Select committees frequently ignore public submissions and the government stifles debate in Parliament as shown with the Abortion Legislation bill and the End of Life Choice bill. The government is determined to impose its aggressive agenda of social engineering, regardless of the will of the people.
The Prime Minister declared in her address, “It ignores the fact that the foundation of a strong democracy includes trust in institutions, experts, and government — and that this can be built up over decades but torn down in mere years.”
Right to Life agrees and laments that her government has betrayed our trust with its failure to protect the lives of our precious unborn with the killing of more than 13,000 unborn children every year being violently killed up to birth by being poisoned, sucked from their mother’s womb or being violently dismembered, authorised and funded by the government.
You called for kindness, yet you refused to protect our children and now you are generously paying doctors to kill their vulnerable patients with a lethal injection or assist in their suicide under the guise that this is “health care”. Prime Minister, we don’t trust you to protect our lives, you don’t deserve our trust and you have no right to govern us because you don’t have our consent.
