Media Release 16 December 2020
The government and the Ministry of Health are concerned that very few District Health Boards have doctors who are prepared to inject a deadly poison into the heart of an unborn child from 22 weeks gestation.
This revelation follows a recent Ministry quarterly survey of all 19 District Health Boards on their provision of abortion. The Ministry directs that for the killing of the unborn from 22 weeks an abortionist inject potassium chloride into the heart of the unborn to bring about cardiac arrest and kill the child before it is delivered. The Ministry advises that the shortage of doctors is caused by doctors refusing on conscience grounds to be involved in feticide and abortion.
The object of abortion is a dead child. The Ministry is anxious that a late term abortion does not result in a live and crying child. The Ministry’s website states that should a baby be born alive from an abortion, “Once alive and living outside the mother’s womb, a baby is a legal person and has the same rights as any other person, and there is a requirement to provide health care in the same way as for any other baby.”
• “The survey revealed that conscientious objection is a major barrier in ensuring the availability and continuity of this workforce and the services they provide.”
• “There is also high levels of conscientious objection in the midwifery and nursing workforce for abortions after 20 weeks.”
The Ministry is well aware that human life begins at conception, why then does it uphold the lie and legal fiction that the child only becomes a human being at birth?
The wonderful truth is that the unborn child is a human being from conception and is a non-repeatable miracle of God’s loving creation that is endowed at conception with inalienable human rights, the foundation being a right to life. As the weakest and most defenceless member of our human family, they deserve our loving respect and protection.
The government has directed that the Ministry be responsible for regulating and overseeing the killing of the unborn under the Abortion Legislation Act 2020 and the killing of the vulnerable under the End of Life Choice Act 2019, with a lethal injection or assisted suicide. The government is anxious that the killing of our most vulnerable be done under the pretence of health care under the direction of the Ministry. The Ministry has now established a special unit for this task named the Regulatory Assurance team. The killing of the unborn classified as unwanted has a high priority, it is a core or essential health service with unlimited funding. The Ministry is now considering “developing an employment strategy to ensure staff are committed to providing abortion care as part of their job description consistent with the new legislation.”
Associate Health Minister Dr Ayesha Verrall, said abortion services are an essential part of women having control over their fertility. She told RNZ she expects to see continuous improvements in the way those services are provided by DHBs across the country. Right to Life asks the Minister: how do you promote the dignity of women by giving them the “right” to kill their children residing in the sanctuary of their mother’s womb?
Right to Life commends those doctors, midwives and nurses who laudably refuse to be involved in the killing of our defenceless and innocent unborn children. Right to Life also encourages those doctors and health professionals who have been seduced into believing that they are helping women by assisting in abortion, to reject the culture of death and to use their medical skills to protect the lives of our precious unborn and their mothers.
Right to Life also encourages the Director General of Health Dr Bloomfield to resist and oppose the government’s agenda to use the Ministry of Health to promote its culture of death.
