March for Life Christchurch is the third and latest of a New Zealand wide marches to support the right to life of unborn children and their mothers and to speak out against the government’s Abortion Legislation. The march follows the National March in Wellington on December 7th and March for Life Auckland on February 29th.
The Christchurch March for Life came out of Non-Denominational Church prayer evenings in the city, beginning at the end of October last year. Right to Life and Shekinah Trust are the sponsors of the march and are both involved in organising it.
Since its inception a dedicated group of organisers have come together and met regularly to make this event possible. It has been promoted through the March for Life Christchurch and Right to Life’s website and Facebook page and on social media in general, through radio advertising on Rhema, Star and Life FM, Eventfinda, through Phantom bill stickers throughout the Christchurch CBD, through the distribution of 15,000 flyers amongst the church community. Large Cor-flute signs have also been put up at Churches and other locations around the city. Other Pro-life organisations throughout the country have also been promoting the march.
The march is being supported by Christchurch churches and it is wonderful to see them coming together to condemn this dangerous Bill. We are all aware that this is not a small change that is being proposed by the government, but that rather that the Abortion Legislation Bill has huge and negative ramifications for our unborn children.
The march is a family friendly event and will begin at the Square at 12 pm on Saturday 28th March, with worship and speakers from all walks of the church and pro-life community. The march will then walk through the CBD and end up at North Hagley Park where we will again there will be worship, followed by speakers. Those attending are welcome to bring their own signs (no abusive signs will be permitted) or marchers will be able to pick up a placard to carry. We we will also have flowers available to carry as a memorial to the children who have lost their lives to abortion.
We look forward to marching with you on behalf of the little ones on Saturday 28th. Could we also ask that even though it is very late in the day that you continue taking action.. Keep emailing and talking to your MP’s.
It is not too late to stop this bill.
