For those who have not received this important alert from Bob McCoskrie at Family First we re-post it here below. It is likely that the bill will go up for its final reading next week.
The government of ‘kindness’ wants to pass the extreme abortion bill in the next two weeks! WHAT CAN YOU DO?
Hi there We’ve been swamped with emails and phone calls in the past 48 hours with a simple and repeated question – “What can I do now about this atrocious abortion bill?!“
Despite the more urgent issues of housing affordability & homelessness, material hardship, child abuse, and Coronavirus, the government has made liberalising our abortion laws the priority. And they’re desperate to do this in the next couple of weeks.
SO WHAT CAN YOU DO? Here’s the simple answer:
We need 21 more MPs to change their vote to NO. Just 21. 21 MPs to give unborn children their own birthday!
Below is a list of the MPs we believe are open to thinking through their decision and would benefit from (polite and respectful) communication from people like you. A number of them are from the Pacifika, Maori and other ethnic communities. Some from the faith communities. A visit from the leadership and members of these various groups (both national and local based) would be valuable. If they’re your local MP, visit them in person. If you gave your party vote to them, contact or visit them. If this is a deciding issue on your vote, tell them.
WHAT TO DISCUSS
We’ve also put together some talking points to aid your conversation – and to ensure that the politician knows exactly what they might be voting for. Many don’t!
(Please note – we haven’t listed all the politicians who voted Yes at the 2nd Reading. Just the ones who we believe would be open to further discussion and consideration. But you’re more than welcome to contact the other MPs. We just didn’t want to waste your valuable time!

(they want a referendum on the issue, but we are unsure as to whether they will oppose the bill IF there is no referendum granted)
WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP IN THE PARLIAMENTARY PROCESS?
The bill moves in to Committee Stage, likely next week, where a number of proposals to amend the bill will be debated and put to the vote. We will watch these closely. Some of these Supplementary Order Papers (SOPs) are good – and designed to minimise the harm of this atrocious billSome positive ones include:* Agnes Loheni – National – stricter criteria for late term abortions / stricter def’n of health practitioner
* Agnes Loheni – National – pain capability post 20 weeks
* Joanne Hayes – National – parental notification
* Joanne Hayes – National – informed consent (capacity test)
* Melissa Lee – National – ban on sex selection and disability discrimination
* Darroch Ball – NZ First – referendum
* David Seymour – ACT – scrapping ‘safe areas’And from the radical pro-abortion side:* Jan Logie – remove definition of ‘women’ – because men can get pregnant, apparently (!)
* Jan Logie – remove the safeguard of the (already weak) statutory test after 20 weeks ?
