Western society rests firmly on the foundations of the Judeo-Christian ethic and The Fifth commandment of God is “thou shalt not kill.” It is always wrong to kill another innocent human being and we ignore at our peril.
Right to Life is appalled that Kiwibank has seen fit to honour abortionist Dame Sparrow by selecting her as a semi-finalist in the prestigious New Zealander of the Year Awards for 2020.
Dame Margaret has been selected as one of the ten semi-finalists from the original 969 nominations. She has also been selected as a semi-finalist for the Senior New Zealander of the Year. There are many who are incensed at this nomination which is a strong incentive not to bank with Kiwibank.
Dame Margaret Sparrow was a leading abortionist in New Zealand and was the Director of the Parkview Abortion Clinic in Wellington from 1980 until 1998. During this period she oversaw the killing of tens of thousands of innocent unborn children. It is estimated that she was personally responsible for the violent and painful dismemberment of tens of thousands of children before birth.
The Kiwibank website lauds Dame Margaret Sparrow, saying her “impressive medical career has spanned 42 years. She has made extraordinary contributions to the field of sexual and reproductive health.” Right to Life asks how is it possible that she can be considered laudable?
A GP, she opened New Zealand’s first abortion clinic and vasectomy clinic, she held the post of President of the Abortion Law Reform Society for more than 30 years and is acknowledged as a ‘trailblazer’ in the campaign for legal abortion in NZ. She has held various roles within the New Zealand Family Planning Association since 1971.
Right to Life makes no apology in speaking up on behalf of our precious unborn whose humanity and right to life she cruelly denied. They were considered of little worth and their broken and dismembered bodies were dispatched as “medical waste” to the local landfill. Rather than being publicly lauded Right to Life believes she is guilty of crimes against humanity. We also protest on behalf of their mothers, the second victim of abortion, who are wounded and left with a lifetime of grief and sorrow.
It is totally appalling that Kiwibank, a subsidiary of the State owned enterprise of NZ Post, NZ Superannuation and the ACC, should honour Margaret Sparrow, a prolific abortionist. By permitting this contentious selection Kiwibank is giving its approval to the killing of the unborn, as “a reproductive choice for women” and as a “health service.”
Kiwibank is to be commended for establishing these prestigious awards to give recognition to the outstanding contributions of many great New Zealanders. “This award honours someone who through their inspiration and leadership contributes to the wellbeing of the country.” The 10 semi-finalists represented “the very best of us”, chief judge Cameron Bennett said.
“With courage, humility, empathy and determination, they’ve taken real actions to help solve some of the big challenges this country faces. Their remarkable contributions help make New Zealand that much better of a place to live.”
Right to Life asks the ten judges, which includes the Rt Hon Jim Bolger, Mr Steve Jurkovich, CEO of Kiwibank and Vanessa Dhiru, President of the National Council of Women, how the killing of thousands of defenceless unborn children has made New Zealand “a much better place to live.”
Dr Sparrow was trained to protect life, it is disappointing that she devoted her considerable medical skills to destroying it.

Kiwibank, this nomination is disgusting and totally unacceptable. I am changing to another bank.
Have left Kiwibank because of their support for this person who by her own admission has killed her own and many other mothers’ and fathers’ unborn children.
