Rapid social changes are currently taking place all across the western world in relation to the devaluing and re-orientation of traditional understandings of what it is to be human. From the push for global abortion rights and euthanasia to the watershed changes we are seeing in the attempts to redefine marriage and gender, we are going through a time of rupture of social norms. These changes are inextricably linked to an agenda being pushed by secular humanists who have since the 1960’s worked their way into positions of political, legal and corporate power. Now with the aid of the small but immensely powerful LGBT lobby they now seek to destroy God-given norms including sexual identity with the ultimate goal being to destroy the family as society’s fundamental building block.
The push to obliterate any distinction between men and women and declare that gender is a fluid concept that one can simply redefine at will, regardless of the fact of our biological sexual make up, is at the heart of much of this change. We ignore the power and influence of this group at our peril. Buoyed by recent victories in the US Supreme Court relating to Same Sex “Marriage” and the ongoing push of the Obama administration to initiate light speed changes to our social fabric around these issues, activists have plans to force their poisonous agenda worldwide. From the push of Hillary Clinton, using the UN as a vehicle to foist abortion up to birth as a global human right, to the emotional whinging of people like Andrew Denton in Australia and David Seymour in New Zealand, to bring about the decriminalisation of euthanasia, we are increasingly seeing man’s attempts to flout natural law.
The imposition of understandings of human life directly contradictory to Natural Law has become almost the norm in public life as that law is being steadily and systematically dismantled by legal and political decisions. This is of course going to have increasingly dire consequences for religious freedoms, which have been described as first freedoms. No longer will dissent be tolerated when it comes to opposing these new social dogmas. The rapidity of these changes can be seen using the US as an example. When Barak Obama was first elected president he opposed same sex marriage. Within two terms he has not only embraced it, but he has been a driving force in its implementation. Not only so but he is now over reaching his executive powers by attempting to redefine legislation such as the 1964 Civil Rights Act which was enacted to protect racial equality, to now redefine gender as something we can change at will. The gender issue was not even on the radar at that time of the Civil Rights Act. He has just in the last few weeks imposed what might as well be a dictatorial decree that all schools and universities in the US must allow males to use female bathrooms and showers if in spite of their biology, they identify as the opposite sex. This is social madness. Assertions that the rights of 0.3 percent of the population who ‘identify’ as transgender take precedence over the 97.7 % majority is ridiculous.
On the 20th May the editorial board of one of North Carolina’s largest newspapers – the Charlotte Observer, wrote, in a piece supporting the Obama administration’s transgender school facilities edict “Girls need to get over the “discomfort” they may feel at seeing male genitalia in the locker room”. One can only imagine what distress the parents of young girls are feeling on hearing this proclamation coming from Obama as he tramples on the privacy and emotional safety of young girls. How would any parent feel for their 9 year old daughter to be showering with a 17 year old male who considers himself a female?
There are numerous examples of how the weight of the law is being felt by those persons who oppose the juggernaut of the LGBT/Obama agenda. These include the sacking of Mozilla Corp CEO Brendan Eich for once donating to support Proposition 8 in California which was an attempt to support natural marriage as being between a man and a woman, to the removal from office of Chicago Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran for once expressing his opinion that homosexual acts were wrong in the context of a tract written for his church homegroup. Just this week there was an attempt by Hampden-Sydney university to remove Delta Force hero and former highly respected leader of the Green Berets, Jerry Boykin from his position at Hampden-Sydney College where he teaches leadership and ethics. Activists became outraged over his cracking a joke about the stand over tactics of Obama relating to the “ bathroom wars”.
All this does not bode well for America. There has been a backlash against this rapid social engineering and already calls by some for mass civil disobedience.
Here in New Zealand the culture wars are not proceeding at the same fever pitch as in the US, but nevertheless we are seeing change. One thing is for sure, we will not have to wait long to see what is happening in the US impacting on us here.
