40 Days for Life involves public prayer for an end to abortion. The local organising committee in Christchurch is busy preparing for the next campaign of prayerful vigils and fasting.
Shaun Hickland, co-leader says, “We will be praying for an end to abortion outside the Christchurch Hospital, as we did last year. We need people to make sure this next campaign is every bit as successful as the last one.” Connor Eatwell, co-leader, adds, “40 Days for Life has the blessing of both the Catholic and Anglican bishops of Christchurch, and we expect people who helped last year will do so again, but we invite more people to be involved.”
In 2015, 40 Days for Life prayer vigils took place in 307 locations around the world, involving over 105,000 participants from many different Christian churches. Mothers have come forward saying that if it hadn’t been for 40 Days for Life, they would have gone ahead and had an abortion, and that today their babies would not be alive.
The vigil in Christchurch will take place outside the Hospital, beginning on 10 February and will continue every day after that until 20 March 2016. People can sign up and decide when they will be rostered. To find out more either phone Clare Bell at (03) 351 3225 or visit www.40daysforlife.com/christchurch
