October is breast cancer awareness month. It is a human tragedy that each year 650 women die in New Zealand from breast cancer. Every year 2800 women are diagnosed with breast cancer. Ninety five per cent of women contracting breast cancer are over the age of forty. It has been known since 1957 (from a Japanese study), that women who had an abortion increased their risk of breast cancer three fold. There are many studies that have been conducted worldwide that provide irrefutable proof of the link between abortion and breast cancer. Abortions are promoted as being “safe “for women; they are not. It is politically incorrect to admit that abortion hurts women. The fact that ideology trumps science means that women are not being warned of the abortion breast cancer link. Women have a right to be informed that abortion increases a woman’s risk of developing breast cancer.
The New Zealand Family Planning Association, in its booklet on abortion funded by the Ministry of Health state:
Why is Family Planning a partner in this conspiracy of silence, when New Zealand women are dying as the result of this crucial information being withheld? The answer is simply that political ideology trumps truth.
Dr Joel Brind, PhD, internationally renowned researcher in 1996, completed a mega-analysis of twenty three international studies and found that eighteen studies disclosed a link between abortion and breast cancer. Recent studies have been completed in Sri Lanka, China, India, Bangladesh, Iran and Turkey which revealed a substantial increase in breast cancer following an abortion. There has been a 40 per cent increase in breast cancer in China since the introduction of its one child family policy with forced abortions in 1979. Women under the age of eighteen who have an abortion double their risk of breast cancer. Multiple abortions also result in an increasing risk of breast cancer. There have been no studies on the link between abortion and breast cancer conducted in New Zealand.
How does an abortion increase the risk of breast cancer? Early in pregnancy, during the first trimester, hormones stimulate breast development in preparation for milk production. That development occurs in two phases, both of which have to complete, or the woman runs a risk of breast cancer. In the first phase, the hormone oestrogen (or estrogen), makes breast cells multiply rapidly. This rapid increase in multiplying breast cells continues until about the 32nd week. At that point, in a normal pregnancy, fresh chemical messengers instruct the breast cells to convert from multiplying cells, to milk production cells. Once a ‘multiplying’ cell has been converted to a ‘milk production’ cell there is no risk of breast cancer. If the pregnancy is violently terminated by an abortion the cells are left undifferentiated and this increases the risk of developing breast cancer.
The World Health Organisation and the medical profession accept the science but state that there is no scientific evidence that there is actually a link between abortion and breast cancer. They claim that all the numerous studies done around the world that reveal an increased risk of breast cancer are deeply flawed due to “recall bias”. This is a supposition that women participating in a study who have not had breast cancer refuse to divulge that they have had an abortion, which could lead to giving a false conclusion to the study. There is no proof that there is such a phenomena as “recall bias”. The National Abortion Federation web site states that only cohort studies which rely on computerized records, free of recall bias, are accurate. They fail to mention the 1989 study on New York State women under 40, which showed a 90% increase in risk of breast cancer that was based solely on computerized records.
One in four women in New Zealand has an abortion. One in ten women will develop breast cancer. Doctors who fail to warn women seeking an abortion that they increase the risk of developing breast cancer leave themselves open to being sued by women for failing to warn them of the risk of breast cancer. The world faces a pandemic of breast cancer that will kill many women. There is a conspiracy of silence constructed by the medical profession and supported by the media. How many women must die before the medical profession admits the inconvenient truth that abortions increase the risk of breast cancer?
