The Abortion Law Reform Association, in a recent discussion paper, seeks common ground with the disability sector. This would appear commendable. Right to Life fully supports the Association’s following principles; “The right to accurate, balanced information about disability. The right to adequate social and financial support for raising a child with a disability. The right to have or refuse prenatal testing.” Right to Life however, does not support the following principle “the right to terminate a pregnancy when a fetal diagnosis is made.”
ALRANZ promotes a culture of death. This culture which is evil, demands complete acceptance. It will not tolerate the truth and accepts no compromise with its deadly agenda. It is simply not possible for ALRANZ, to find common ground with the disability sector, which promotes a culture of life and is protective of the rights of the disabled. ALRANZ’s objectives in promoting abortion, are diametrically opposed to a culture of life.
The disability sector should be alert to the hidden agenda of ALRANZ, who hide as a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Its hidden agenda is to seduce the disability sector into giving their valuable support for the decriminalisation of abortion in New Zealand. It disingenuously proclaims that it is opposed to discrimination against the disabled, but it is not. ALRANZ is totally supportive of the killing of children in the womb including the “disabled”, for any reason or no reason. Can ALRANZ explain why they support the killing of the unborn diagnosed with Down Syndrome, Spina Bifida or other disability?
The official position of ALRANZ is that it is opposed to discrimination against the disabled, but incongruently, it reserves the right to kill the disabled while still in the womb. This is the ultimate in discrimination.
The Crimes Act 1961, allows for the killing of the “seriously disabled” up to 20 weeks gestation. ALRANZ laments that the law prohibits the killing of the disabled after 20 weeks. If abortion were decriminalised, as ALRANZ and the Labour/Green Party’s hopes, it would then be lawful to kill the disabled right up to birth. The grounds of disability would be removed and the discrimination against the disabled would then be hidden and unseen. The war against the disabled unborn, would then extend for the full nine months of pregnancy.
Right to Life fully supports the disability sector, in defending the human rights of the disabled, the foundation right, being an inalienable right to life. Right to Life seeks to alert the disability sector to the mortal threat that confronts the disabled. We encourage the disability sector to join Right to Life in actively lobbying Parliament to oppose the decriminalisation of abortion being promoted by ALRANZ and New Zealand Family Planning. They are the implacable foes of the disabled while still in the womb.
