9 April 2014
Right Honourable John Key,
Dear Mr Key
It is understood that Dr Rosemary Jane Fenwicke is seeking the nomination of the National Party for the Wellington Central electorate at the forthcoming general election. I wish to draw your attention to the implications expected for the government should Dr Rosemary Fenwicke be selected.
Dr Fenwicke, is a Certifying Consultant and an abortionist at the Te Mahoe abortion facility at the Wellington Hospital. This facility is the second busiest abortion mill in New Zealand. It reported 2,252 abortions in 2012. Dr Fenwicke has been working at this facility for many years and is responsible for the violent killing of many thousands of innocent and defenceless unborn children and promoting the war against women.
Right to Life believes that should Dr Fenwicke be selected as the National Party candidate for Wellington Central, or placed on the list, it will be deeply offensive to many New Zealanders. Many people support your Party because they believe National supports the common good, by upholding the sanctity of life of every human being from conception to natural death, human dignity and family values. We believe that there are many thousands of conservative voters in New Zealand who support a culture of life, who would be outraged if an abortionist were nominated as a candidate to be a member of the government. There is no way that they could vote for an abortionist to represent them in Parliament. Nor would they vote for a government that has an abortionist as a candidate.
Why is this such an important issue? We all have a duty to defend life, especially the weak and defenceless members of society. Human life begins at conception and every new human being is a unique and unrepeatable miracle of creation who is endowed with gifts to enrich our community. From the moment of conception the human embryo should be accorded the respect that is due to the human person. The denial of the humanity of the unborn child, the bearer of human rights, is a violation of human rights.
Abortion is violence against women. It is the murder of the innocent. Pregnancy is not a disease and abortion is not a health service. There is nothing heroic or brave for Dr Fenwicke to use her medical skills to invade the mother’s womb with with deadly murderous intent. The mothers womb is the sanctuary of the child. The child terrified at the intrusion, heart racing in terror and mouth open in a silent scream frantically tries to avoid the abortionists curette which then tears the limbs of the child from its body.
It was the denial of the humanity of Jews that allowed Nazi Germany to implement the holocaust that killed more than 6 million Jews. It is the denial of the humanity of the unborn child that has produced our own holocaust against our own children.
Right to Life believes that should Dr Fenwicke be elected to Parliament, it would constitute a serious conflict of interest. The first duty of Parliament is to uphold effective legal protection for the right to life of every person from the moment of conception until natural death. The great American statesman Thomas Jefferson stated; “The care of human life and happiness and not their destruction, is the first and only legitimate object of good government”.
Dr Fenwicke also supports the decriminalisation of abortion that would remove all legal protection for the right to life of unborn children who are the weakest and most defenceless members of the human family. It would no longer be a crime to kill an unborn child. Decriminalisation would mean that an abortion could be performed during the full nine months of pregnancy, for any reason, or for no reason.
Dr Fenwicke is a member of the New Zealand Family Planning Association and was the Medical Director of the Central Region for Family Planning from 1987 to 1990. The Association is an affiliate of the International Planned Parenthood Federation. IPPF is at the forefront of promoting worldwide, a culture of death, with contraception, sterilisation and abortion. The Federation also supports the notorious one child family policy of China with forced abortions and sterilisations.
The Family Planning Association in February 2014, made a submission to the periodic review of the human rights performance of the New Zealand government conducted by the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva. The Association submitted that the government was guilty of human rights abuses against women. The reason? By failing to decriminalise abortion.
We can not state strongly enough that it is totally inappropriate that Dr Fenwicke, who supports these outrageous and false accusations, should now seek to be a member of government.
While Right to Life acknowledges Dr Fenwicke’s passionate desire to promote the welfare of women and children, she is however mistaken in believing that she can assist women by killing their children and promoting contraception, sterilisation and abortion. Dr Fenwicke also supports comprehensive sex education which promotes teenage promiscuity. The result, contrary to what is claimed is, an increase in teenage pregnancies, STI’s, exploited and abandoned women and abortions.
In conclusion, Dr Fenwicke’s advocacy of and involvement in a culture of death disqualifies her from being a Member of our Parliament. The National Party would be most unwise to nominate Dr Fenwicke for the Wellington Central electorate or any other electorate, or even for a place on the National Party list.
In the event that Dr Fenwicke is nominated as a candidate for Parliament, the Pro-Life movement will actively and vigorously oppose her election to Parliament. We will consider it our duty to alert the churches throughout New Zealand to the threat posed by Dr Fenwicke to the right to life of the unborn, to the family and to the common good.
It is hoped that the National Party will select candidates who have respect for the right to life of every human being from conception and who will promote the common good.
