Media Release 11 November 2013
A small pro-abortion group is delighted that its complaint against full page adverts placed in the Bay News and Bay of Plenty Times have been upheld by the Advertising Standards Authority [ASA]. They accused the advertiser of lying. The adverts were placed by Voice for Life in Tauranga. The adverts followed the introduction of the killing of children in their first nine weeks of life at The Family Planning’s clinic in Tauranga in April this year. The adverts were a community service and provided information about the tragic deaths of women overseas and the serious complications resulting from abortions with RU 486.
The adverts also named the forty ministers and priests in the Tauranga area who would provide unconditional love and support to women with an unplanned pregnancy. The Advertising Standards Authority has accepted the complaint that the advert contained ‘lies’. The Authority also accepted that the advertisements were prepared in “a socially irresponsible manner” as it “grossly”misrepresented medical facts about the risks and effects of abortion. The complainant also said the advertisement employed fear in order to deter women from undergoing an abortion with RU 486. The accusations are simply not true.
Abortion is a war against women. The first victim in any war is the truth. Those who defend life are aware that those who promote a culture of death are forced to accept a culture of lies and deceit. The killing of defenceless and weak children in the womb is promoted as “a human right” and “a woman’s right to choose.” It is a sad day when those who out of concern for the welfare of women and their unborn warn them of the very real danger to the life of the child and the welfare of the mother, are deemed to be socially irresponsible.
While Family Planning, which seeks to entice women into the Tauranga killing centre for a medical abortion with the alluring words”its very safe”, are deemed to be socially responsible, the killing of a child in a chemical abortion is promoted by Family Planning in Tauranga as “very safe.” This is the real lie, intended to deceive vulnerable women. It is fatal for the child who is starved to death and it often wounds women and in documented cases has killed 21 women worldwide. There are almost certainly many more deaths that have been kept from the public.
The Federal Drug Administration[FDA] in the United States advises that reporting complications and maternal deaths is voluntary and that it is believed that only about one to ten per cent of complications are reported.
Planned Parenthood official calls drug ‘unsafe’
Even Dr. E. Hakim-Elahi, a former medical director for Planned Parenthood’s New York affiliate, has called RU486 "unsafe" (Ob.Gyn News, 2/15/05). He quoted statistics from a study of 43,410 RU486 abortions at Planned Parenthood in 2003. A total of 141 women required surgical follow-up, 49 were treated in an emergency room for heaving bleeding, 20 required blood transfusions and seven were admitted to hospitals for infection.
The organisers of the pro- women adverts are to be commended for their service to the women of Tauranga. The Pastors and Priests of the Tauranga area are also to be highly commended for their unconditional love and support that they are offering for women distressed with their pregnancy to choose life for their baby. The people of Tauranga can be proud of the love that is being shown by the Christian community to women in need.
