The election of Senator Barack Obama as the 44th President of the United States is a victory for a culture of death. He is the most pro- abortion President in the history of the United States. His voting record in the United States Senate was shamefully totally pro=abortion and anti-life. He even voted in the Illinois Senate against a Bill that would have given protection to the life of a child born alive following an abortion.
He is the most extreme pro-abortion member of the United States Senate; in fact the most pro-abortion legislator ever to serve in the United States Congress. His Presidency will have a devastating effect on the protection of unborn children and their mothers in the United States and throughout the world. He has promised that on his first day in the White House, he will sign the Freedom of Choice Act. This will effectively overturn all pro-life legislation passed in the last 30 years, passed with the intention of protecting vulnerable and distressed mothers and their unborn.
Barack Obama has promised to remove the Hyde Amendment which prevents taxpayer funding of abortion. He has also promised to revoke the Mexico City policy, that prevents taxpayer support for abortions in other countries. It is now expected that the United States will aggressively promote abortion overseas, especially in developing nations by funding the United Nations Population Fund Agency (UNFPA), which has been involved in supporting China’s "One Child Family" policy, with forced abortions. He is expected to cease federal funding of Crisis Pregnancy Centres that provide assistance to women with a crisis pregnancy.
This Act will legalise the barbaric killing of late term unborn children by partial birth abortion. This procedure entails the near birth of children; scissors are plunged into the back of the head of the child, followed by sucking the brains out of the baby’s head. The Act will strike down all limitations on abortion, including informed consent, parental consent and notification laws. It will also remove the current conscience protections for those working in hospitals, which presently allows medical staff not to participate in abortions. It is conservatively estimated that the signing of this Act will result in a further 125,000 abortions each year in the United States.
Barack Obama has pledged to ensure that every Justice he appoints to the Supreme Court will comply with his litmus test that they support the notorious Roe V Wade decision of 1973, that allows for abortion on demand during the full nine months of pregnancy. Since the decision was passed more than 50 million babies have been killed by abortion. It is expected that he will have the opportunity of appointing 6 to 8 Justices to the Supreme Court, within the next four years. He has given an assurance that federal funding will be provided for embryonic stem cell research. This research entails the destruction of human embryos. We should pray for the United States that in the near future it will return to being the land of the free and the just and is committed to protecting women with a crisis pregnancy and the human rights and lives of their precious unborn children.
