Right to Life seeks to raise public awareness of the plight of our unborn children and their mothers. To assist in raising awareness Right to Life has launched a campaign of pro-life advertising on Television New Zealand. The advertising comprising 21 screenings, features three adverts which will be screened in prime time on TV 1 and TV 2 during the period 21 -31 October. The TV advertising cost $20,000, Right to Life is grateful to its members and supporters who generously funded the campaign.
The killing of innocent and defenceless unborn children is the most important human rights issue facing New Zealand today. During the nine years of the present government more than 158,000 unborn children have been aborted, sanctioned and funded by the government. Abortion is violence against the unborn child and also women. If we lose respect for the lives of children in the womb should we be surprised at the violence perpetrated against the defenceless poor little toddler Nia Glassey. If we as a society are serious about eliminating violence against children, why is protection for the lives of unborn children not the foremost issue at this election?
It is also hoped that the advertising will encourage voters to defend life by ensuring that they vote only for candidates, who are otherwise suitably qualified and who are publicly committed to upholding the right to life of every human being from conception to natural death and especially that of the unborn child.
There are many deeply hurt women in our community who are suffering spiritually, physically and emotionally as the result of having an abortion. We would encourage these women to seek post abortion counselling from Pregnancy Counselling Services or Pro-Life counsellors who can provide compassion and assistance to achieve spiritual and emotional healing.
