Right to Life is concerned that girls as young as thirteen are having abortions without their parent’s consent. A news item in the Nelson Mail available by clicking here presents further information.
The fact that school students under sixteen are having abortions and that school counsellors have knowledge and play a part in this, when parents do not is of serious concern. This situation highlights the growing interference of the state in the lives of families and the usurping of the parental role. We ask if the counsellors and health officials involved in procurring abortions for these young women will be around to ‘pick up the pieces’?
Heck, this is terrible. What about further down in the Article where it states that “a child of any age could get an abortion without parental consent, and that legislation had not changed since 1978” – that is ridiculous, is this truly the law in New Zealand? We should be ashamed.
