Dear Ken,
I completely agree with your comments about aborting babies with Downs Syndrome. It is illegal for a school to refuse enrollment of a student based on whether or not they have a disability. I believe it should similarly be illegal for a child to be aborted because they have a disability.

In the December 2009 edition of the Treasures magazine is a lovely article about a dad whose child was unexpectedly born with Downs Syndrome. The article tells of his initial shock and his more recent acceptance and love of his child.

Dear Ken, I am just now reading yuor entire article, but wanted to offer our support and thanks for this well-written article. Reece’s Rainbow works to find adoptive families for those children with DS who are left in orphanages throughout the world, but the other side of that coin is educating our own western cultures and birth parents about the joys these children bring, and the right to life they too have! Such a tremendous divide the availability of prenatal care creates…and the rest of us in the middle fighting for the lives of these beautiful children.

I was scanning something else about this on another blog. Interesting. Your linear perspective on it is diametrically contradicted to what I read before. I am still contemplating over the diverse points of view, but I’m inclined heavily toward yours. And irrespective, that’s what is so great about modern democracy and the marketplace of ideas on-line.
