Right to Life is alarmed that the Southern Cross hospital in Rotorua, has applied to the Abortion Supervisory Committee for a licence to perform abortions. Abortion is not a health service, it is violence against women and their precious unborn. The killing of children in the womb has no place in this hospital, This surely makes a total travesty of all that Southern Cross hospitals stand for.
Unborn children are also patients who are the weakest and most defenceless members of the human family. They deserve respect and special protection. Southern Cross hospitals have an enviable reputation for promoting a culture of life by providing quality health care for its patients.
Why would they destroy their good name, their ethos and their reputation by turning one of their hospitals into a killing centre?
Killing children in the womb is promoted by a culture of death in mortal conflict with a culture of life. It would be most unwise for the management of Southern Cross to pursue a licence to permit the murder of children in their hospital at Rotorua. It would destroy their reputation for providing quality health care. Who would wish to enter a Hospital where they knew innocent children in the womb were being murdered around them. Abortion brutalises doctors and nurses who are involved in the killing of the innocent and is the cause of dissension among the staff who are committed to respecting the right to life of every patient, especially those in the womb.
Right to Life earnestly requests that in the defence of life, the management of Southern Cross and this hospital in Rotorua withdraw their application for a licence to kill children in the womb.
The Southern Cross Hospital in Rotorua is part of the Southern Cross health care group which includes Southern Cross Health Insurance. The Southern Cross health care group has 19 hospitals in New Zealand and is one of the country’s most trusted and respected healthcare providers not for profit. Should the licence be granted to terminate the lives of the unborn it will caste a dark shadow over the reputation of all the Southern Cross hospitals and may result in many who hold health policies with them to reconsider their options.
