Right to Life joins with the international pro-life movement in condemning as an unspeakable and evil act the murder of late term abortionist George Tiller in Wichita, Kansas. He was murdered on Sunday, 31 May in the Reformist Lutheran church in Wichita.
The international pro-life movement is opposed to violence. It is opposed to violence against unborn children and it is opposed to violence against abortionists and their property. The pro-life movement upholds the right to life of every human being from conception to natural death. The senseless and cowardly murder of George Tiller was a violation of his right to life.
George Tiller was a notorious late term abortionist who has killed more than 60,000 helpless unborn children. The pro-life movement sought justice for his actions through peaceful and lawful means. The violence against unborn children will not be stopped by exercising violence against abortionists.
Scott Roeder, 51 has been charged with the first degree murder of George Tiller. It has been revealed that the accused who has a criminal record is not a member of any mainstream pro-life organisation. It is pleasing that the alleged perpetrator of this heinous crime has been apprehended and will now be brought to justice.
Right to Life’s prayer is for the mercy of God for the soul of George Tiller and for comfort for his grieving family.

Dear Ken and followers,
Actions speak louder than words.
You may deplore, the murderous actions of a few fringe supporters of your cause, but it has the same hollow ring-to-it, we see with Muslims, when we see terrorist acts occur in the name of the same God.
These terrorists, in your own midst, are by in-large card-carrying members of anti-abortion groups.
The news report I saw on CBS, showed the abandoned car of Dr Tillers murderer, with printed-material from Operation Rescue, on the dashboard.
So saying “don’t blame us” is a cop-out – who do we point the finger at?
Frankly, abortion doesn’t register on my own radar, I am not for, or against the practice.
I don’t want to get drawn on that debate.
What is deplorable to me is the flouting of the democratic process.
When-ever anti-abortionists fail to get their own way, an element from within, uses violence, intimidation and even murder.
It happens in all countries – we have seen a murder in Melbourne.
The wife of my own doctor, has been threatened, here in Christchurch.
Again, please stop the rhetoric and instead better employ your time, rooting-out the violent element from amongst your midst.
Thank-you.
Paul.
Dear Paul
Thank you for your comments, we respect your right to free speech and your right to be heard. Were you aware that the alleged murderer of the late George Tiller, Scott Roeder has a criminal record, has a serious mental illness and was deemed by the Wichita police to have acted alone. He was not a member of any mainstream pro-life organisation. The alleged murderer was strongly opposed to the killing of unborn children, he was anti abortion but not pro-life. To be a member of the pro-life movement requires a commitment to respect the right to life of every human being from conception to natural death. Scott Roeder did not respect the right to life of George Tiller and thus could never qualify for membership of the pro-life movement. A study of the other deplorable murders of abortionists and their staff in the United States reveals that the convicted murderers were mentally disturbed, acted alone and were not members of any mainstream pro-life groups.
Right to Life New Zealand, in common with the international pro-life movement has as its objective to respect and uphold the inalienable right to life of every person from conception to natural death by lawful and peaceful means, it is totally opposed to violence. I am sure that you would agree that the violence against unborn children will not be stopped by violence against those involved in abortion. Thank you for expressing your views.
